I like it how some of the comments from Serbs here expressing indignation on hate speech. Half of them were cheering "Kill Albanians" 3-4 years ago when an idiot flew a drone with a map on it on a football stadium.

Actually, the chanting of "ubi, ubi Siptar" by the Serb fans began much earlier than when the drone flew into the stadium, in fact, the match had not yet begun. Furthermore, the drone threatened no one. Only in Serbia is provocation a one way street.

Please provide a reference or explain the mathematics of your claim about who is complaining “the most”? Dwight, your peculiar obsession of providing dubious references in the enumeration of Serbs, is reminiscent of your shameful revisionist comments minimizing Serb victims of Croat Ustasha in the 1940’s and 1990’s.
After you explain to us how you enumerate Serbs (so often) perhaps you can explain to us what criteria you used to discriminate Serbian fascists from the complaining Serbs who are anti-fascists. How many complaining Serbs were anti-fascists?
Glad to know that you’re not counting Croat fascists and their apologists, as that would require you to face a mirror.

"To protect the homeland" means jack shit in context. If you the Serbs and just like the Jews want to keep talking about things that happened 70 years ago, your living in the past. No wonder Serbia has been left with nothing. Your at a total stalemate who have fought the Croats, Bosniaks, Turks, Albanians, anyone I have forgot?? All Thomson is saying we will protect our homeland if needed. There is no suggestion of attack. Go promote Serbia instead of living in the past and going sideways as a nation. You all get sucked by your governments nationalistic propaganda so you don't see the real issues facing you every morning which they should be addressing. Poland and Hungary were in a much worse state 25 years ago and look at them now. I don't hear them crying about Stalin. Only Serbia, living in the past like the pollies.

This isn't entirely indicative of how all Croatian people are. As a Serb I know that not all people agree with those who have a loud voice and gain media attention. This doesn't represent everyone's mentality in Croatia.

You had me agreeing with you all the way until this end bit.
First, how do you know that "Serb Fascists" are the ones complaining about this? Do you actually know who the people complaining are?
Might it also be that some Croatians are complaining because they are ashamed to have people like this man in their group?

Look, I'm all for free speech and expressing yourself. You simply cannot legislate against bad taste but there is a point when expressing yourself and inciting people to violence becomes evident.
This guy can sing anything he wants because there are people ready to listen and that's fine. I might not agree with him but he does have the right to his own mind. He and people like him will be judged by the people themselves.
Crossing the line and trying to stir trouble is when he should be facing charges and what this court did was inflict further pain to people whose relatives perished by Ustasha hands.
Something is either legal or not. There is no well, maybe at times it can be done. This court has exposed the justice system of Croatia for what it obviously is.
Vindicates Serbs taking up arms during 90s.

I think there's a difference between the fairly benign fascism (if such a thing exists) of say Mussolini's Italy, and the blood thirsty cut throats of Croatia's Ustasha or Nazi Germany. But this is all academic at the end of the day. The fact is Croatia has a serious problem with historical revisionism, and tolerating fascist nostalgia. It is embarrassing and shameful that in the 21st Century morons like Thompson are given a platform and allowed to spout their vile lyrics. Celebrating gruesome concentration camps and a twisted regime like the NDH with all its appalling crimes, is criminal in itself and a defeat for decency and right thinking people.

"Unconstitutional but can be used on special occasions" seems like a weasel way of passing the buck. Then any event can be considered a special occasion unless you are in your own home.
I disagree with the court but it is a difficult thing to legislate for. Free speech/incitement to hatred/hate speech etc is often about context rather than substance, but if facsist Thomspon screaming "Za dom spremni" to a crowd of 1000s of dancing Croats is not incitement to hatred then what is? and did he not say himself that he wrote his songs to motivate (incite) people.
The greeting has become synonymous with Ustashe support whether you like it or not. Surely people in Croatia who want to express their patriotism can find a different greeting.
Hearing a Croat use that greeting while saying they are not a fascist is like hearing a jack-booted skin-head say that he hates Jews but he is not a Nazi and his swastika t-shirt is just an ancient religious symbol.

Punching Nazis doesn't incite hate either. It's actually quite positive. Punching Thompson would, I imagine, be quite a pleasant experience. Throwing him and his fans into a pit the size of Bleiburg would be swoon-inducing. Knowing Nazi bootlicking Croats would end up as Slavic slave labor in any German Aryan utopia would be cathartic.

At the same time, the people that are complaining the most about this verdict are Serbian fascists, Thompson's Serbian equivalent.

=====================

This isn't entirely indicative of how all Croatian people are. As a Serb I know that not all people agree with those who have a loud voice and gain media attention. This doesn't represent everyone's mentality in Croatia.
