First of all, the US will have difficulties financing their military in the future. Explaining rhe reasons for that would take too much space, but printing new money out of thin air will stop as soon as the petro-yuan is settled. This will take another few years.
But then many US-Vassals will have to look for other ways of protection...

Furthermore the Russians and the Chinese will take a more active role globally.
They are getting stronger while at the same time the US are getting weaker.

From 2016 to 2017, USA's support dropped from 41% to 31% when it came to voting in the UN - this is an incredible statistic when you consider how much financial support and aid the US provides to some of these countries - I guess not everyone can be bought. Israel was the number one supporter at 94% and Zimbabwe was the lowest at 14%. SO, 31% is the average and there were only a few handfuls of countries that exceeded 50% - you guessed it, every country in the Balkans except Serbia - their number was 24%. This information is worthing looking at because it paints a pretty good picture of Geopolitics on a global scale. The document can be found on UN's site...

Just because you apparently consider it normal to pay for political favors, it doesn't mean that everyone else does this. The US is far from perfect. I agree that foreign policy is on the rocks, especially considering the debt level. There might be humanitarian value in military presence, and "strategic" interests that politicians want to defend, but I don't know how anyone could consider such an expense worth the investment. Even when pursuing humanitarian ends, such as in Iraq, the ultimate outcome was worse than the beginning; it brought out Islamic brutality on an almost unprecedented scale.
