Actually I think the problem starts much earlier than that. There is only one kingdom that matters, only one reign that matters. All else is idolatry. We can appreciate our country, its heritage and traditions. But if we give allegiance to it, we neglect the one king and ruler of the universe. Idolatry, I believe, distorts all earthly kingdoms and peoples.
(JS, 17 April 2018 11:08)

JS, indeed a complex question, and you can probably write a book. You can't mistake pride and honor for nationalism. The Serbs have a great history and have always been on the side of righteousness and freedom. You can even say, defenders of Europe and Christ from the onslaught of Islam for centuries. The simple answer is that nationalism grows when you have been wronged, in particular, by your historical allies and for geopolitical reasons. Again, this is just a small part of the answer... you can go on, and on.

@ ChiTown

"I guess I have one, to start, simple question for you - "how does someone, or any portion of an entire community, became radicalized"? Or, "what makes someone more aware of their pride for they country and people"?"

That's a great question. I'm not sure that I have a good answer. The are many possible causes. Perhaps I would answer, unfettered enthusiasm for our nation or ethnic group. People are energized during times of conflict, as "us" and "them" are more sharply defined and "the other" is demonized. That demonization means that "our people" are righteous, and since all people and governments are flawed then we are required to distort the facts to fit the deeply held love for country or ethnic group.

You're really cute. I guess MUP R SRBIJE made a mistake when they issued my Serbian passport.

My comments are mostly the result of being ashamed of radical Serb nationalists. I never comment on equally crazy Albanian posts (and there are many of them!) because I cannot be ashamed of foreigners.
(JS, 16 April 2018 20:42)

JS, we're starting off on the wrong foot, damn it... Oh, by the way, just because you received a Serbian Passport, doesn't necessarily mean that you're Serbian. For all I know, JS can stand for Johannas Schweinhunden, right! I guess I have one, to start, simple question for you - "how does someone, or any portion of an entire community, became radicalized"? Or, "what makes someone more aware of their pride for they country and people"? Now, before you answer, remember that you've included the Serbs and Albanians in the same category - so walk gingerly with your answer my friend. I do, however, appreciate you trying to tread through a rough forum.

JS, "The Keyboard Warrior", you're either very young, naive or ignorant. If you don't understand that the US controls the entire Western Media, with their partners, you're sadly mistaking. You will see, and hear, what they want you to believe, so they can pursue their agenda under the guise of saving the world - in essence, they're actually doing the opposite in most cases. I understand that you, as an Albanian, "have to" try and portray the US as do-gooders, but don't be hypocritical when we take the Russian side, and actually require real proof. Take your blinders off and try to read between the lines occasionally.

Regarding the half million Iraqi children, the question was put to Mad-woman Albright and she didn't dispute the figure, she simply stated the death of half a million Iraqi children was worth it. Now that is pure evil.

JS

pre 6 godina

@ Watcher

I'm not an expert on the subject but it looks as though the 500,000 figure was the result of Saddam distorting statistics, in a bid to get the sanctions lifted by making it appear that a lot of children were dying because of the sanctions. This figure seems to have been proven false after Saddam was removed from power and independent investigations were made. The conclusion in academic journals is that infant mortality was nearly the same after the sanctions as before them. And it's really only common sense anyways. How would sanctions cause the death of 500,000 people in a modern country? That isn't reasonable.

So, we are back to zero. So, how do you get to hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis killed by the Americans?

Globalists have been itching for world war and tried many ways to start it. Is it just me or is it obvious to all that if Russia wanted these two dead they would be? This particular nerve agent doesn't let anyone live. Unprotected people came to aid and they are alive too.
Now a chemical attack in Syria and all they had to do was wash off the chemical.
There had to be a reason to attack Assad and they are invented one.
Again, we see children having water poured on their heads. If this is all it takes to survive a chemical attack then it's not really bad. It's just a minor irritation.

Problem with this circus is that there are no good acts and the west seem to be clowns without humour. Blind Freddy can see what is going on. Again, US resorts to air strikes without SC approval.

And this is the man whom Peggy recently cited as proof that the US seems regime change, with the assumption that we should pity Saddam and consider America the "bad boy." Some people have such warped minds. By the way, Watcher, it may be that Albright deserves to be called a madwoman. But if that figure is true, you should call Saddam much worse.

The US intervened to free the people from the Taliban. The Taliban, guy. Did you forget? So many Serbs complain that they were in bondage to the Turks for centuries but those guys were nice compared to the Taliban. Yes, the group the United States freed the Afghan people from. There is a history of Russia doing this kind of thing.

Putin himself showed a cynical attitude that he is not averse.

Russia’s childish sneering seems more like a school bully who has been caught out than a respectable country that wants to be seen to uphold international law.

Russia has developed an antogonistic attitude to international relations - probably as a distraction from anti-democratic practices and a very feeble economy.

We know Vucic is sycophantic in his regard for Putin, but in this case he’d do better to keep quiet rather than leave himself in an embarassing position later on.

There is evidence. It has been confirmed that it is the same chemical formula as developed in Russia.

Don't worry Ivan, some people are just plain blind. There is no evidence Russia or Syria did anything of what they are accused. For some people, if a Kalashnikov was used in a murder, then it must be Russia because it was first made in Russia.

The US and their collaborators are the ones that most likely poisoned Russians in Salisbury, released chemical weapons in Syria and even murdered Oliver Ivanovic. We all know how much the US and their collaborators care for innocent children. Remember Madeline Albright, when asked about the half million Iraqi children that died as a consequence of the US invasion? Well, she said it was worth it. Here is a reminder, check -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omnskeu-puE

Your comments are not very enlightening. But if they were true, they would implicate in the very thing you are accusing the US of doing: using their military to gain economic advantage.

But to bring you back to reality, what did the US gain in Afghanistan? Oil? If you think that, you need to open a geography book and think about that one again. The US intervened to free the people from the Taliban. The Taliban, guy. Did you forget? So many Serbs complain that they were in bondage to the Turks for centuries but those guys were nice compared to the Taliban. Yes, the group the United States freed the Afghan people from. And at the expense of normal citizens of the United States of America.

I'm interested in defending the truth and doesn't seem much of that going around. It doesn't take much to see political agendas taking priority over facts.

For instance, Israeli soldiers killed dozens of protesting Palestinians a few days ago and the whole world spoke against it except the US. I know the US isn't really communist so according to your definition above, it must be fascist. Israel, Saudi Arabia, the US and many of their collaborators fit nicely into your definition above.

Saddam's killing of thousands of his own citizens, oppression of the Kurds in the north, and chemical and biological testing on his own citizens was sufficient reason to punish him. But I don't understand why a full-scale invasion of the country was necessary to accomplish that.

"You're a naïve person...people who think like you are scary...just ask the hundreds of thousands innocent Iraqis murdered because of "evidence" you speak of..."

You are generally reasonable in your assessments. However, you refer to the murder of hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis. During the entire military operation between 3200 and 7300 civilians died. Where do you come up with hundreds of thousands? And why would you call those murders?

Globalists have been itching for world war and tried many ways to start it. Is it just me or is it obvious to all that if Russia wanted these two dead they would be? This particular nerve agent doesn't let anyone live. Unprotected people came to aid and they are alive too.
Now a chemical attack in Syria and all they had to do was wash off the chemical.
There had to be a reason to attack Assad and they are invented one.

That's a great question. I'm not sure that I have a good answer. The are many possible causes. Perhaps I would answer, unfettered enthusiasm for our nation or ethnic group. People are energized during times of conflict, as "us" and "them" are more sharply defined and "the other" is demonized. That demonization means that "our people" are righteous, and since all people and governments are flawed then we are required to distort the facts to fit the deeply held love for country or ethnic group.

Just goes to show how much they really care for innocent children.

There is evidence. It has been confirmed that it is the same chemical formula as developed in Russia.

@Bob,

You do not seem to have your facts straight buddy! What about Iraq and the Sarajevo marketplace massacre to name two off the bat and there are more though. They were staged as a prelude to brainwash the American public and substantiate an upcoming invasion. Russia does not want to dominate the world whereas could you say the same for America? Any fool can see that there is no benefit whatsoever to poison civilians, unless you can come up with one? Moreover, the righteous US wants to initiate a world war over 70 people. What about the millions they killed, how do you justify that? This is all about oil? They want to move Saudi oil to Europe but Syria remains an obstacle. This is detrimental to Russia and it will never allow it.

@ JS Again ignorance is no excuse in the internet era. In the 80' Uk+Us supported financially and trained on the ground the Mujahideen who later morphed into Al Qaeda and Taliban. Just google photograph of Zbigniew Brzezinski with Osama Bin Laden in 1981. Headline from the Independent 4 december 1993 and picture of Osama "Antisoviet warrior puts his army on the road to peace". These info can be easily found on internet. The Us supported and trained Osama during the soviets intervention in Afganistan (invited by the legitimate afganistan government by the way) Reason: incite muslims everywhere against the Ussr and of course exploit that region natural resources. This is basic info very elementary info. After 17 years of Us occupation Afganistan returned to the shithole country it used to be before the soviets influence. This figure seems to have been proven false after Saddam was removed from power and independent investigations were made. The conclusion in academic journals is that infant mortality was nearly the same after the sanctions as before them. And it's really only common sense anyways.

Actually I think the problem starts much earlier than that. There is only one kingdom that matters, only one reign that matters. All else is idolatry. The simple answer is that nationalism grows when you have been wronged, in particular, by your historical allies and for geopolitical reasons. Again, this is just a small part of the answer... you can go on, and on.
