Can someone from the sitting American administration please answer this simple question: what, precisely, is the point of sending an endless stream of petty apparatchiks and temp bureaucrats to a foreign country, with the sole aim of persuading it to capitulate?

Obviously, State Department knows this is not going to happen, the CIA and the MI-5 know this is not going to happen, the United Nations know this is not going to happen, the NATO and the EU know this is not going to happen and our neighbors and organ-traffickers know this is not going to happen. The indecent proposal is stillborn on arrival.

So...what gives? Are they sending these small beans to Belgrade just to accumulate their airline reward points?
