Ukraine takes Belgrade's side in latest Kosovo flareup

Ukraine's ambassador to Serbia says the government in Pristina showed itself to be "completely irresponsible" in the case of <a href="https://www.b92.net/eng/news/politics.php?yyyy=2018&mm=03&dd=27&nav_id=103798" class="text-link" target= "_blank">Marko Djuric's arrest.</a>

Yes, I'm not saying which is more correct.. but more Ukranian words/phrases are closer to Serbian.
(trizo, 29 March 2018 16:07)

I noticed that in Western Ukraine. I was more often in BG, so few phrases did stick.
I re-used my humble Serbian in Zakarpat'e - with a success and applauses I did never expect.

It's just the way it has always been, I get it, cant let go of the past emotional relationship, however if you watch for a example a VICE News special on Ukraine you have Serbian Qetniks aka SERBIAN Mercenaries/child killers, controlling check points between Russia and Ukraine. But I get it that historical emotional connection. However I promise you that all the threats and supports etc. isn't going to scare us away. We do have a trader or two in our government this is why this is more easy for Serbian government to play these games.

When it comes to this I take Ukraine's side (wink-wink).

I agree Serbs should not be involved as mercenaries in the Ukraine, but I wonder if any Ukrainians especially of Catholic faith fought with fellow Catholic Croats in the wars in the former Yugoslavia. I guess that is overlooked, whats good for the goose is good for the gander!

When it comes to Ukraine conflict we know on which side Serbs are.

Of course Avni, we are always on the same side, the anti-fascist side. We have Ukrainian fascists supported by NATO and the rest of Ukraine supported by Russia. It is the Ukraine fascists and NATO that divided the country and pretty much destroyed it.

Still, both can be understood quite well. No one knows, which is the "right" one.
Probably both.

Mentality is quite similar and (tens of) millions are inter-married.

Yes, I'm not saying which is more correct.. but more Ukranian words/phrases are closer to Serbian. We share many words in common with Russian, but even more with Ukranian. My girlfriend speaks both (she's Armenian) and more often she tells me she understands the Serbian because of the Ukranian. I'm Pro-Russian, however it doesn't mean I'm anti-Ukraine at all and I'm pleased that their language is slowly making its way back in society in the Ukraine. I just think their government is completely fraudulent at the moment and hopefully it will change so they can restore their cultural and historical ties with Russia.

@Trizo: it's all correct.

Russian can be described as ijekavian, more like Croatian.
Ukrainian is more ekavian.

Just spent a week in Kharkiv.. very welcomed and Ukrainian and Serbian languages are more similar than Russian/Serbian. We share many commonalities with them too. They have their own issues especially with corrupt politicians. Most of the population speak Russian daily and listen to Russian songs. Apart from the fascist ones, they generally get along well with each other. Things were better before the West interfered and turned them at a state level against Russia.

(Not so) few warheads with many magatons in Serbia's ownership would make it's position even stronger.

Such things are a warranty of peace better than any written agreement.

Funnier can't get. Ukraine just expelled 13 Russian diplomats/spies. They're sitting in two chairs like Serbs. When it comes to Ukraine conflict we know on which side Serbs are.
