Sorry to inform you but I am not Albanian or from the region.

I did however spend lots of time in Bosnia, Croatia and just a little time in Serbia in the early 1990's for work. I did have the opportunity to learn a little bit of the language and culture I just like to stay in touch with what is happening in the region and to see if any of the attitudes have changed. Unfortunately your post answers my question.

How funny reading the anti-Serb comments, attempting to downplay the significance here. Firstly, we dealt with NATO in 1999 and they went crying to Russia for a deal so we got UNSCR1244, which confirmed Serbia's sovereignty. Secondly, we shot down a stealth bomber with a missile system far more primitive than the S300. The NATO cowards then could only bomb civilian infrastructure and civilians from 10000m high.

Russia has intetest in providing belrus with modern air defenses because it is basically going to an extension of russias air defense. Belarus no longer needs these jets, and honestly probably has less of a need for jets than serbia. They are allied with russia and very close to russia, they will be protected. There is no air force in the world that will tell you s300 is dated junk that they do not fear, absolutely 0, it has a nearly 90% kill rate once locked onto an aircraft. The modernization allows for integration with buk and kub systems, which serbia has. Same goes for modernized mig 29s. Zhuk radars and hotas make it a plane to be taken seriously. These are all gen4+ weapons. The only two countries playing with gen 5 weapons are usa and russia, so serbia is getting with the times, and is WAY ahwad than they were just last year.

The deal is about 19 years too late. Milosevic balked at the deal in 1998.
