I'm sure a lot of you won't like this, but for two thousand years the church has had a consistent message; we have duties and responsibilities toward each other, and these include promoting and arranging for the future. When these ministers attack the church, the state interferes with the church's business which is moral instruction. When these ministers say women in Serbia have a choice, i disagree.
Their choice was taken away from them when there is no jobs, their choice was taken away from them when they can't afford a family, their choice was taken away from them when the state was reckless with money. their choice was taken away from them when the minimum wage is so low that you can't live off of it. their choice was taken away from them when the state institutes austerity measures so that foreign bankers can profit. The only "choice" many women have in Serbia is abortion or poverty, and that was the business of the state and not the church.

These so-called pious, religious men are outrageous. They sound like the Taliban ! More backward thinking by Serbs! Just make a better country and society and forget about dictating to or enslaving women to suit your patriarchal madness.

Dawkins and Hitchens are not considered prophets! Simply people who have the courage (and the intellectual skills) to articulate a rational perspective counter to those who simply believe something, however nonsensical, inhuman or devisive it might be. By all means believe what you like, but keep it to yourself. You believe it, not me. Some people are happy just to believe, others of us prefer to know.

Navi, by definition atheism is not a religion.

Tell that to those who treat people like Dawkins and Hitchens as prophets and honestly believe that ridding the world of religion will create world peace. Atheism is just as destructive and just as manipulative as any other non-negotiable belief - heavenly being or not.

But that doesn't excuse the idiotic comments about women that the Patriarch and Metropolitan made.

Navi, by definition atheism is not a religion. You'll find that most atheists are humanists, which is based on empathy, a concern for human beings and a belief that, in the absence of an afterlife and any discernible purpose to the universe, human beings can act to give their own lives meaning by seeking happiness in this life and helping others to do the same.Religions offer exclusive rewards for following them. Helping people is usually to try and convert them or gain a place in whatever flavour of afterlife the hundreds of religions in history have offered, rather than kindness.
