Waitstaff= hostess, server, waiter, waitress, and bartenders. Some include bus boys
Your make believe Kosovar waiter is making good money if his make believe restaurant does good business. None of the waitresses we employ at our diners make $4.50/hr if they have been with us less than a few years and they have taxes taken on wages and the tips they claim. In our best restaurant(we own 4 diners, 2 gyro stands, and we are equipped for festivals, carnivals, etc), the waitresses who do the breakfast thru lunch shift make on average $20/hr. For Sunday alone 7pm to 2:30pm shift they make on average $40/hr, $250-$300 in tips in a day is normal but we are famous for kicking customers out, no sitting around drinking coffee chatting after you eat on Sundays , people are waiting for that table.
The Kosovar waiter is doing fine at $4.50/hr + tips. If he wants a better job, he should get an education.

San Antonio Texas is even worse, its $2.50 per hour starting point for servers. I spent 7 weeks flying/driving around the US and I saw plenty.

Actually it was a restaurant in Main Street Chicago. This was not the first time I asked this question there and they all said the same thing. In fact it was $4.50 per hour for servers and if they don’t make the minimum of $7.50 per hour then the owner has to make up the difference.
Bar and kitchen staff are different. Bar staff are paid the $7.50 while kitchen aka cooks are paid more.

Sj probably made the story up about the waiter. Mininum Wage is $11 for non-tipped staff, $6.45 for waitstaff in city of Chicago. Or the kid is under the table and doing fine by not paying taxes. People will get all outraged about that but it's not like this make believe Kosovar Waiter is covering NASA's budget.

Hope you left him a tip, he actually gets a decent wage for being wait-staff. I think mininum wage is $2.65/hr, for years it was $2.01. With tips I'm sure he brings home on average $10 to $12 an hour with tips, could be even more in big city like Chicago, depending on business and what days/hours he gets.

I think I need to point out to the under 30’s readers here what yees statement actually means when he says ‘pick a side’.
Between 1946 to 1989 Yugoslavia was in the truest sense neutral (neither US/NATO or USSR/Warsaw pact vassal) and as such was able to successfully balance their relationship between both superpowers to Yugoslavia’s benefit. Some historians speculate this is the real reason Yugoslavia was destroyed in 1990, to eliminate the third option (the non-aligned movement), but I digress.

And yes, the citizens of those 4 countries are more confident in Russia than NATO, but so what? Take Bulgaria for example. We used to be equal with them. Now, because of the EU, they are way ahead of us. I think I need to point out to the under 30’s readers here what yees statement actually means when he says ‘pick a side’.
Between 1946 to 1989 Yugoslavia was in the truest sense neutral (neither US/NATO or USSR/Warsaw pact vassal) and as such was able to successfully balance their relationship between both superpowers to Yugoslavia’s benefit. Some historians speculate this is the real reason Yugoslavia was destroyed in 1990, to eliminate the third option (the non-aligned movement), but I digress.
What yee is saying is that Serbia is not Yugoslavia and that Belgrade needs to pick a side, and that the US will not play the old balancing game with Belgrade. While the politicians in Serbia are pretending, it is the ‘old days’ when they could play one superpower against the other. Yee is saying those days are long gone, so pick a side.

Actually it was a restaurant in Main Street Chicago. This was not the first time I asked this question there and they all said the same thing. In fact it was $4.50 per hour for servers and if they don’t make the minimum of $7.50 per hour then the owner has to make up the difference.
Bar and kitchen staff are different. Bar staff are paid the $7.50 while kitchen aka cooks are paid more.
San Antonio Texas is even worse, its $2.50 per hour starting point for servers. I spent 7 weeks flying/driving around the US and I saw plenty.
Most earn low wages and don’t pay any taxes. I was surprised but I was told by family members this information was correct. By the way in the US they are called servers not waitstaff.
Im not sure what point you are making because even you mention they have low wages even if they were paid $11. That’s nothing.

Hope you left him a tip, he actually gets a decent wage for being wait-staff. I think mininum wage is $2.65/hr, for years it was $2.01. With tips I'm sure he brings home on average $10 to $12 an hour with tips, could be even more in big city like Chicago, depending on business and what days/hours he gets.

Waitstaff= hostess, server, waiter, waitress, and bartenders. Some include bus boys
Your make believe Kosovar waiter is making good money if his make believe restaurant does good business. None of the waitresses we employ at our diners make $4.50/hr if they have been with us less than a few years and they have taxes taken on wages and the tips they claim. In our best restaurant(we own 4 diners, 2 gyro stands, and we are equipped for festivals, carnivals, etc), the waitresses who do the breakfast thru lunch shift make on average $20/hr. For Sunday alone 7pm to 2:30pm shift they make on average $40/hr, $250-$300 in tips in a day is normal but we are famous for kicking customers out, no sitting around drinking coffee chatting after you eat on Sundays , people are waiting for that table.
The Kosovar waiter is doing fine at $4.50/hr + tips. If he wants a better job, he should get an education.

What yee is saying is that Serbia is not Yugoslavia and that Belgrade needs to pick a side, and that the US will not play the old balancing game with Belgrade. While the politicians in Serbia are pretending, it is the ‘old days’ when they could play one superpower against the other. Yee is saying those days are long gone, so pick a side.

Funny I was in Chicago in September and I came across a waiter who was an Albanian from Kosovo. He spoke good English and I asked him his hourly rate. Hope you left him a tip, he actually gets a decent wage for being wait-staff. I think mininum wage is $2.65/hr, for years it was $2.01. With tips I'm sure he brings home on average $10 to $12 an hour with tips, could be even more in big city like Chicago, depending on business and what days/hours he gets.

Sj probably made the story up about the waiter. Mininum Wage is $11 for non-tipped staff, $6.45 for waitstaff in city of Chicago. Or the kid is under the table and doing fine by not paying taxes. People will get all outraged about that but it's not like this make believe Kosovar Waiter is covering NASA's budget.

Actually it was a restaurant in Main Street Chicago. This was not the first time I asked this question there and they all said the same thing. In fact it was $4.50 per hour for servers and if they don’t make the minimum of $7.50 per hour then the owner has to make up the difference.
Bar and kitchen staff are different. Bar staff are paid the $7.50 while kitchen aka cooks are paid more.
San Antonio Texas is even worse, its $2.50 per hour starting point for servers. I spent 7 weeks flying/driving around the US and I saw plenty.
Most earn low wages and don’t pay any taxes. I was surprised but I was told by family members this information was correct. By the way in the US they are called servers not waitstaff.
Im not sure what point you are making because even you mention they have low wages even if they were paid $11. That’s nothing.

Waitstaff= hostess, server, waiter, waitress, and bartenders. Some include bus boys
Your make believe Kosovar waiter is making good money if his make believe restaurant does good business. None of the waitresses we employ at our diners make $4.50/hr if they have been with us less than a few years and they have taxes taken on wages and the tips they claim. In our best restaurant(we own 4 diners, 2 gyro stands, and we are equipped for festivals, carnivals, etc), the waitresses who do the breakfast thru lunch shift make on average $20/hr. For Sunday alone 7pm to 2:30pm shift they make on average $40/hr, $250-$300 in tips in a day is normal but we are famous for kicking customers out, no sitting around drinking coffee chatting after you eat on Sundays , people are waiting for that table.
The Kosovar waiter is doing fine at $4.50/hr + tips. If he wants a better job, he should get an education.
