The conditions for Western Balkan countries to join the EU membership will not be met before the end of the mandate of the current European Commission (EC).

The truth is the he is doing it because Serbia really wants to join the EU ( maybe not its citizens ) but for purely economic and trade reasons. Since the majority of trade it does is with EU countries.
So we will se if Serbia is a democracy and the people have a free and fair vote. In the end the vote will Probably be a yes since there will be plenty of rewards put on the table and an example of the UK desperately trying to negotiate some sort of access to the EU market so that it can keep its economy from sinking into recession.
It seems that those Serbs who live in developed economies in the west do not want Serbia to enjoy the same standard of living as they do in the EU, US, Canada, Or Australia. Plus the Russian trolls who are trying to fulfill Putin's agenda don't want Serbia in the EU either.
Bulgaria and Romania will join Schengen in 2018.
Montenegro will join the EU in 2022.
Croatia will join Schengen in 2022.
Vardar Makedonia could also join the EU in 2022 or later if it makes a union with Bulgaria, which is likely.
I don't see Serbia, Bosnia, Kosovo or Albania joining before 2025 at the very earliest.
Other things caught more attention. Last year China's direct investment (through purchase of companies) reached 75 billions EUR. One of the reasons is that control over foreign investment in Europe is not as strict as that of the US government. Juncker came up with plan to stop that.
He was backed by joint statement of Germany, France and Italy who supported "breaks on Chinese investment"

Not really. While they want to stop "selling their wealth to China" they continue to encourage smaller countries to "keep flow investment and capital open and free" . In other words to allow them to takeover their wealth.
