Talk about fake news. The EU as an organization contributes less than peanuts to Serbia’s economy. Are you seriously going to give the EU credit for every private company from Germany, France or Italy that invests in Serbia? Those companies are in Serbia for profit, not because the EU told them. That’s great news. Serbia should be an attractive destination for investment from all over the place, crediting the EU for these private investments as their “contribution” is ridiculous.
Serbia has no reason to “test” Russia’s friendship. Russia has not done anything wrong to Serbia. I don’t think Serbia should blindly follow Russia in everything. But Russia is a strong political ally to Serbia and Russian companies are coming to Serbia more and more. Serbia must never be anyone’s vassal, always independent.

As far as I'm aware, the former Yugoslavia and Ukraine both lie on the continent of Europe and I wouldn't say there was peace and prosperity there for the past 70 years. The EU had a big role to play in those conflicts also.

Serbia has made it quite clear numerous times that it is willing to compromise for the sake of peace in the region but it's relationship with Russia and recognition of Kosovo are not negotiable. EU membership is a long long way away and I doubt it will ever be achieved but the process of membership will hopefully help Serbia modernise and reduce bureaucracy. Lots of investment pouring into Serbia at the moment so things are looking good.
