Why not do what Costa Rica has done and become a protectorate of America with no standing army, that brings all the benefits with zero cost and no one would dare attack you in the continent. It's an even better deal than NATO or any other alliance and costs nothing.

Abandon the hope of joining EU family and pursue the path of Puerto Rico -- a depended territory of US with almost all the benefits of a state / US citizen (including passport).

One of the reasons Croatia left Yug was because it did not want to subsidize the money sucking south. Why would Croatia now spend money there? What's in it for them? The only benefit is to wind up the Serbs, but it is not for free.

Why not do what Costa Rica has done and become a protectorate of America with no standing army, that brings all the benefits with zero cost and no one would dare attack you in the continent. It's an even better deal than NATO or any other alliance and costs nothing.
