--According to the daily, the difference is that the planned gas pipeline through the Black Sea will not go directly to Bulgaria, but to Turkey.

"In addition, only one of the two branches of Turkish Stream, that is, 15.75 billion cubic meters, can go to the Balkans, which is a quarter less than the capacity of South Stream," Kommersant said.

The newspaper noted that Gazprom cannot supply the Balkans from the second branch and at the same time build Poseidon. Currently, Hungary and Serbia can only received gas supplies through Ukraine, which would force Gazprom to negotiate gas transits with Kiev after 2020, the daily added.

So no joy for Borissov.

"The entry point of the first thread is on the European territory of Turkey and the gas is expected to be used mainly by Turkish clients. The entry point of the second thread is not yet decided.

According to reports the Bulgarian authorities have suggested that one of the threads of Turkish Stream should go to the Bulgarian shore, where South Stream was planned to land. South Stream was canceled by Russia in 2014 in the wake of the Ukrainian conflict and EU sanctions."

Interesting. So it still may go directly to Bulgaria.

While our Bulgarian neighbors are building metros and gas hubs, we are still arguing about Kosovo. We are hopeless.

And Zoran,

reducing Russian influence by having the oil go through Turkey first was a great move, considering the fact that:
1. Russian influence is cancer
and
2. Bulgaria is building interconnectors with all neighbors just found its own oil in the Black Sea, and will be getting at least half of its oil from Azerbaijan, not Russia. Diversification is key, my friend.

The Bulgarians are still hoping for a spur off the Black Sea pipeline a Bulgarian gas 'hub' that is entirely EU controlled. Maybe they can pay for it?! That'll be the day.

Maybe Brussels will be stupid enough to do it, but in that case Russia should sell at point of entry - no transit fees for deeply corrupt Sofia. They could always just siphon gas off like Kiev has the long habit of doing...

How stupid does Bulgaria and the EU look now? Transit through Turkey and Greece before hitting Bulgaria. Much much much less €€€€s now.
