Serbia's incoming PM is "one quarter Croatian"

I don't know why you had to mention Albanians and Dalmatians here.
I'm Albanian and also partially Dalmatian. Stop trying to connect Serbs with older Balkanic ethnicities and then saying that Croats and Albanians have less than 100 years of history.
One thing is for sure: Dalmatians were far more inclined to have relations with Albanians than Serbs (source: my family). For us, it was much easier to understand them than any Slavic language (just as it's easy for us to understand Romanian if we try hard enough) and the same goes for them. However, all of them is irrelevant today since Dalmatians and Croatians today are basically same people.

@chaosAD
You croats for some reason have to try and prove yourself as I sense you have a little bit of a inferior complex issue. You like your Albo bothers are only in existence for around 100 years and believe you have to have a point to prove. Funny thing is as a serb with Montenegrin ancestry some of my best friends are Croats (actually Dalmatian) as thats what they prefer to be known as who have no issues with people like me. I even have god children who are Dalmatian who come from beautiful families. You on the other hand have so much built up hate that you come on a Serbian website to tell us all how wonderful Croats are and how inferior and sh$tty Serbs are. If the Serbs are so bad why do you and your goose stepping mate Lenny continually feel the need to post on B92...? Can't imagine too many Serbs going on Croat websites doing the same but then again we don't have a problem with our identity and DNA.

(Lenard, 23 June 2017 02:38)

--

My post was not about genetic purity or haplogroups. It was about how people from all across Europe - and the world - came to Serbia, fell in love with it, and decided to become Serbs. Without pressure, without coercion or extortion, and without forced conversions to our ancestral faith.

They are still coming. And still becoming Serbs.

Although "Serbness" can probably be defined as a possession of a specific set of chromosomes, it is NOT about genes. It is about a frame of mind, worldview, weltnanschaung, set of Serbian beliefs and archetypes. We have always been different, and we always will be. And we have every right under the sun to remain different.

I have sat with many Croats and have had drinks and discussed politics and history. We would not sit with the likes of an illiterate idiot like you. Tesla lit up the world and yes he did make a contribution to the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovene, many of his scientific papers are at the Tesla Museum in Belgrade while other were stolen by both Russia and the United States.

I hate to burst your bubble but university history textbooks do not talk about Tesla being born in Croatia since Croatia did not exist then. They mention that Nikola Tesla was born into a family whose father was a Serbian Orthodox priest in the Austro Hungarian Empire in the region known then as the frontier or as we know it today, Lika. If Tesla was a Croat then the Roman Emperor Diocletian who built and lived in Split was the same.
You Croats love beating your chest about your imaginary greatness, but the primary language spoken in Dalmatia up until 1958 was ITALIAN. Bet Croat schools don’t mention that one either.
Wikipedia is the worst source of information since it can be changed easily.

To introduce electricity in Serbia in the 19 century required a very large sum of money which Serbia did not have. Why do you think some of the greatest minds migrated from Europe to the US? Because the money was there.

It was not Peggy that posted about Croat children not understanding HRTV but me. I would not sit a Croat lounge room if you paid me to, but Croats have a radio program and this was raised on that program.
Croats that arrived as refugees during the 1990s do not like associating with Croats who arrived in the 1970s or 1980s. They don’t go to Croatian clubs either. Because they see them as destroying a good life in Yugoslavia.

People in the Balkans pride their leaders on bloodlines and not their skills on how to govern. Brnabic will always be known to Seselj and co. as the Croat leader who let the Serbian people down and to Croats she will be seen as a half breed mongrel who is better off in Serbia. On matters concerning Tesla he will always be remembered as the peasant Serb who was born on Croatian lands, even though it wasn't called Croatia at that time. If Tesla was such a great Serb why not introduce electricity to blackend Serbia at that time instead he went to a foreign country where he died a poor man. As for Peggy's stupid comment about Croats not being able to understand HTV from Australia is absolute bullshit. I don't think Croats in Australia would allow a Serb or former Yugoslav like yourself to sit with them in the lounge room.

How could he refer to Croatia when it wasn't a country then?
Wikipedia is not a reliable source anyway.
Croatians are desperately trying to claim him so I would need a more reliable source to be convinced.

One thing is for sure, he would never consider himself a Croatian. Do you think that's how his father (Orthodox priest) and his mother (daughter of an Orthodox priest) would have raised him?
Think about it for a minute.

Dusan, Milan, Jovan are 100% Serbian names just like Franjo, Stipe and Mate are Croatian, so Dusan you may want to check your ancestry lineage as you may find a surprise. Croats only claim people as theirs when it suits, with Tesla being case in point.

I have read a lot about Tesla. He was very proud of his Serb heritage and he did love Lika and the places he grew up in and he would spend hours telling people about Serb history and recite Serb poetry.
(sj, 22 June 2017 10:58)

Tesla was not a nationalist and was also proud to be an American but aware of his background. Tesla was a mad scientist and that is what consumed him , he did at one point offer the Kingdom of Yugoslavia the building of a laser system which was impractical at that point in time of history. Mihailo Pupin on the other hand was very much a Serbian and Yugoslav nationalist and was very instrumental in developing the Corfu declaration and working closely with the US President Woodrow Wilson with the creation of Yugoslavia after WWI.

DEDA CVETKO

pre 6 godina

So effing what? Tsar Dusan was 50% Bulgarian, 12% French. His son, Uros, was 75% Bulgarian, 6% French, only 19% Serbian. King Milan Obrenovic was, by all credible accounts, 100% Romanian, and his son Alexander - a product of the marriage with the Romanian princess - was even more Romanian (if this is even technically possible) than his dad. King Alexander I was 50% Montenegrin. His son, King Peter II, was 25% Montenegrin, 50% Romanian. Nikola Pasic was 100% Bulgarian. Josif Pančić was 100% Croatian. Ivo Andric was a self-admitted ethnic hybrid, although born a pure Croatian. Yito did not have a droplet of Serbian blood. Branislav Nusic was 0% Serbian and so was Pavle Jurisic-Sturm (he was an ethnic Sorb, but not a Serb).

And yet, they were all Serbs, and Serbian, our flesh and blood, our true patriots, sons, brothers and founding fathers, and more, and then quite some. Much more so, in fact, than the current generation of our "Serbian" leaders (who are Serbian in a name only, and leaders not even in a name) purporting to be thoroughbred Serbs and bigger and better Serbs than even Prince Lazar himself.

Peggy even a Serb wrote the Croat national anthem “Ljepa Nasa”. Croats have no culture so they copy it from Serbs. The names Dusan Dragan etc are Serbian. Croats cannot accept that fact.

They speak Serbian and in the first few years after WW1 they adopted the Cyrillic alphabet because they did not have one of their own and since then have perverted the Serbian language into “Croatian” to the point that in Australia today children born of Croat parents cannot understand HRTV.

I have read a lot about Tesla. He was very proud of his Serb heritage and he did love Lika and the places he grew up in and he would spend hours telling people about Serb history and recite Serb poetry. Now I understand why Dragan Covic and Milorad Dodik are so good friends.
(Dušan, 21 June 2017 17:52)

I am only interested in Serbs, but I have to admit that the Bosniaks were worthy opponents unlike the Croat scumbags who targeted old men and women. Not only during Operation Storm where even the US refused to admit they had a hand in it after they saw what the Croats did, but also in central Bosnia where Croats locked Bosniaks in basements then set alight their houses.

Dodik is not a friend of Dragan Covic. Covic is a vehicle of convenience and nothing more. Croats have no backbone and in Bosnia beg Serbs to help them but Croats in Croatia are anti Serb. Work that Croat logic if you can.
Regardless give a few more years and no more Croats in Bosnia.

How much influence Croatia had on her can't be known. What is needed is her Christening certificate to see if she is Orthodox or Catholic or not christened at all.

DEDA CVETKO

On matters concerning Tesla he will always be remembered as the peasant Serb who was born on Croatian lands, even though it wasn't called Croatia at that time. It is unthinkable. Do you really think he would call himself a Croat with family like he had? Really?
So please provide the sources for us all to judge.

According to Wikiquote, he said the following "As a son of this country [Croatia], I consider it my duty to help the City of Zagreb in every way, either through counsel or through action"

Judge for yourself!

Serbs and Croats are same people, maybe two tribes living near each other but sure are same.

Take two kids 5 years old put them in a room they will see no difference in language or have any qualms about it.

Can you imagine if Croats and Serbs or all balkans put 20% of energy in working together what will they do. When they leave Balkans they do my friend she went to Germany to work as Dr and her roommates are Serbian and Croatians, they live together and watch eachotheres back.

Strange and all the energy waisted for what, LOST GENERATION.

She was born a Yugoslav.

But nasty bigotry and racism split the tribes.

(Sorry wrong interjection ... logic, common sense .... and decency went out of the window long ago ....)

It doesn't hurt. Tesla, albeit a Serb, was a proud "Ličanin" who put Smiljan on the world map. Not even the most hardcore Croatian nationalist will ever question this.

I'm talking about the situation today. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule, but in general, it is the way I described it.

Interesting that you defend, and even admire, Bosniaks. I have never before met a Serb who has done that. Or is it just the old "the enemy of my enemy is my friend?"

Except for the fact that you nationalists burned his family house down in the 1990s. Oops.
