But let me tell you something about people like Junker. They assume a position in life which affords them luxury and security, they have done nothing to earn this, in fact they have done nothing at all of any significance or substance.They are archetypal hypocrites, pontificating from their plush office and receiving a salary and expenses from taxpayers funds. As to the importance of the English language,it will still be the world’s most spoken language for many years after leeches like Junker are gone.

Leonidas: Given that Juncker is from Luxembourg it is highly unlikely that he has aspirations for his country to dominate the other 27. On the substantive point, English as a language will clearly be less used within the EU once Britain leaves, you don't need to be President of the Commission to work that one out. As for its importance, I spend long periods in European countries and almost everywhere I go English is widely spoken especially by young people. They are not going to stop learning this language simply because Britain is leaving the EU.

The fact that Junker comes from Luxemburg or Timbuktu is irrelevant. He’s the unelected bureaucrat who holds the levers of power within the EU commission and he’s got the ears of Merkel the de-facto leader of the EU. Juncker clearly has a Napoleon complex and a chip against the English, so he is unfit to lead anything!
