A democracy should pride its self on running free and fair elections, with a free press, wide debate, multiple personalities, and a sense of involvement.

There should be no variation of the honesty of the process whether or not observers are present, and criminal prosecution for any who attempt to pervert the process.

------

One if the most significant requirements for a democracy is that there should be the option for a regular replacement of those who get elected.

Tell that to Putin.
