The danger, Herr McAllister, comes not from Moscow but from Berlin's domination of the EU and their trying to extend their influence in this region. You credit the people of the Western Balkans with little intelligence if you expect them to believe this type of silly propaganda. It may have worked at the time of the Third Reich, but people are far more sophisticated now (yes, even in Germany). I am, of course, not speaking for the Serbian government, but I am sure that Serbia will align its foreign policy with that of the EU if, and when, it becomes a member of the EU and after that if, and when, it agrees with this policy. As a sovereign state Serbia can, and will, carry out its foreign policy as it choses. If you or the EU don't like it, you can lump it.

I find one thing funny. According to Kosovo newspaper "Koha" (that B92 sometimes likes to mention) from 2007 to 2014 Serbia got from EU 1.4 billion dollars in aid, according to David McAllister. Serbs want to join EU by not doing what EU says, plus some Serbian politicians have even said "Serbia won't join Russia sanctions even when Serbia joins EU".
We have a saying "if you can find a better place tell us and we'll go together". If Serbs can "play" EU then they deserve to join EU without joining Russia sanctions.

The “EU aid” is actually closer to 1.5 billion since it works out at about 220,000,000 per annum. However, this “aid” is to grease political and bureaucratic palms to sing the praises of the EU. This is not enough to buy each citizen a cup of cappuccino.
The EU is already in taters since Hungary and many others have constructed a fence to keep refugees out and Budapest has approved automatic detention of all asylum seekers. Note that this breaks not one but several of EU sacred laws starting with the Schengen agreement.
The EU will in future have to accept changes otherwise it will rip apart. The EU will buckle to Serbia’s demands of no sanctions against Russia, no recognition of Kosovo and all free trade agreements Serbia has signed stays as is. I repeat, EU representatives have been saying no talks until Kosovo is recognised, but hey they are into 5 articles so far and will finish up 10 or maybe even 15 by the end of 2017.

I find nothing heroic in Serbia's behavior over the sanctions. Because it's a quite natural attitude if we are brothers. We cannot trade our relations like Ari Gold offers as it's not the Serbian way nor the Russian. Besides without Russia behind Serbia will become helpless in or outside the EU. To say nothing that the membership idea is becoming a personal idea fix of Vucic only. In the German block there will be discipline and order but little of the national states I think. To say nothing of the destroyed economics like in Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Bulgaria. Romania and partly Hungaria. They destroy your plants long before you are let in. Look at the Ukraine, Croatia, Moldova, Georgia and other idiots. So Russia is the insurance sertificate for Serbia.

Europe will lose the patience with Serbia.
