In reference to the views of political analyst Jenssen that, President Trump will neglect parts of the country and will let Vladimir Putin to take over, for that to happen he has to have full support of Congress and the Pentagon and they will never, ever let that happen. Putin's dreams of controlling parts of Europe, especially countries that were under Russian control is only that a dream of Putin and nothing else. He might as well come back to reality and forget his dream.

I'm going to laugh when Russia screws the Serbs and makes a deal with Kosovo for Crimea recognition. Once again your Russian "friends" will screw you because you don't learn. Last time was in 1999 when they sat on their hands instead of helping Serbia. Remember when they defended Novi Sad and Belgrade by occupying Pristina Airport after the war was over? Such a strong defense after doing nothing for months. Funny how Muslim states like Syria and Iran can get anti-aircraft missiles, but Orthodox brother Serbia can't. Too funny. Even Greece, a NATO member, has Russian S-300 anti-aircraft missiles.

Well here is your problem. Currently even with reduced military budgets the US military is unable to fill quotas in their ranks, especially the army. It seems likely the basis for this are negative feelings toward the United States. It might be true but not for the reason I suppose you are saying this.
What is that reason?

I thought this is what you are prophesying. If this is a prophecy then it must be future tense not present tense. But I don't think your far right-wing nationalist statements correlate with reality. If per capital GDP of $53,000 constitutes bankruptcy and ruin then I wonder what adjective we would use when talking about our Serbian nation?

There is nothing to prophesise as only the inherently stupid think everything is fine with US spending. But if it makes your life easier then it’s all made up by US haters, including me. As far as the GDP goes, and it’s the first things that people like you go for, then you don’t have a thing to be concerned as the US debt is no existent, America’s standard of living is high and Trump will make America great again while borrowing more and more, but US has the pixies on its side and thus borrowings will never hurt it..

The US military complexes have become so used to gorging on large sums of money they have become useless. As one US analyst said, the other side gets more bang for their buck. Russians allocate $200 million for a new generation aircraft and for that they get the final product. In the US they would bother to get out of bed for less than $1 billion.

Let me tell to you that the plan of Russia to destroy EU, take it time, I think many years!
I don’t know what will happen, but one thing's sure when EU will fall all will miss it.
Now Europe is facing a lot of problems, which mostly were not caused by her. Europe has a lot of problems with Ukraine, Greece, Brexit, Ballkan and if this was not enough with a lot of refugies and the fear of terrorisms which was never a problem for Europe but just for US.
US and Russia have transferred their problems into Europe. And of course EU was not prepared - it happened too fast.
Now, in my opinion Russia will join a first round victory, before that EU and USA prepare themselves, and make some plans how to weaken Russia.
Is that what will happen, is inevitable!
But that will not bring nothing good!

Joni

pre 7 godina

Most probably Serbs called Lavrov as he said and asked to Russia what to do? If Russia will be interested to resolve this problem and interfere in Serbian favour this was the best chance. I don’t know but having present the declaration that Lavrov say: *that there will not allow another war in Balkan*, and the change of aggressivity of Serbs i have my doubt on tell that: Russia told to you that a new war on Balkan will not be allowed again! I must translate it : that she will not cover you, because that for sure would be against her expansion on Balkan.
If Russian interest is to expand her influence in Balkan i just have a simple question for Serbs: Why she will help you destabilizing all the region? The conflict would be resolved just with war, but In all the Balkan from Hungary to Greece live nationalistic minorities in all the countries, and the conflict will easily going in chain from a country to another and the conflict must get out the control, having present the nationalism in Balkan.

I like the change of the intonations in this forum. Looks like we began to hear one another. What I personally expect from Trump is as follows :

1/ For many months his administration will have hands tied by the liberasts. This word is used in Russia as combination of libarals and pederasts. Word pederast in 90% of cases is used in the meaning of a bad man and in 10% as gay.

2/ Trump will try to sell Russia all dead cats they have exposing some of the things as gifts. Russia is no longer ready to be deseived so Putin will not accept dead cats in Syria, Ukraine, Moldova and Balkanes.

3/ American interests and united elite remained as they used to be so contradictions will remain especially when they will ask Russia betray China. Russia won't betray anyone.

4/ EU will be waste a material for the US body and their British head. It may destabilize many regions including the Balkans.

5/ Russias role on Balkans will grow only if we are above all but not a side in the fight.

Second please stop reading nonsense. I can quote you dozens of so called reputable think tanks and publications that made predictions about the Balkans and not one of their so called predictions have come true.

The current Russians administration can run rings around anything that the US can put forward, including Trump. As far as Trump sizing up, being in politics and leading a country is far, far more complex than his reality show. He will find that out soon.
Why would Russia trade anything? Look at the US financial outlook and see what would happen if Trump follows the same path as his predecessors – ruin and bankruptcy.
Russia now has its foot firmly in Syria and Turkey is on its side. Oil can only go through the Straits of Hormuz. Iran controls Iraq whether the US likes it or not. At the switch of a button Iran stops oil tankers going through the Straits of Hormuz and Russia backs Iran. How long will Europe of US last again???
The Russians have played the US off a break where most Europeans see the US as an outright aggressor. Russia has been waiting patiently for changes with the new regime, but if Trump does not bring it about then a new and much, much more aggressive Russia will appear on the world stage.

What is this kind of *title*?? It offend me, and anger me a lot. It look like in Ballkan live some slaves which people must do whatever they want, and talk that are selling "something" them to a new patron, like they were slaves?
This is offensive to me!
But, reading that i realize how miserable Ballkan is and what a joke! I realize that Ballkan is like a pottage when all tamper for their interest.
Yes this is offensive, but is an offensively true. We are here to sotisfy *others* interest and we deserve that.
And yes, if there will be a war in Europe, Serbs will be responsable again. For the next 20 years you will be ashamed of telling that you are Serbs, and all your neighbors just will spit on you face, hateing the double of what they hate you now, and of course will resist waiting silently their turn, till the next *selling*.
But honestly i have read several time the declaration made by Lavrov, and have have tried to translate it! It was not *agresive* haveing present the incident which Serbs pretend that was Albanian foult. In other circumstance that Russia would be threatening us, but that did not seem to me. In such a cases the Russian declaration came immediately, i have present those made to Croatia, Mne, Bosnia, (and i have ever present the loud tones Russia use ) but that take a little and when it came is came like a bit like spontaneous, when mr. Lavrov talk on his annual speaking.

From Balkan Insight, Jan 17, 2017:

One of Britain’s most respected experts and commentators on Russia has floated the prospect of Russia recognising Kosovo’s independence as part of a wider agreement between Washington and Moscow, once Donald Trump takes the reins as US President.

Mary Dejevsky, a former Moscow and Washington correspondent and now Guardian writer and member of the UK’s Chatham House think tank, raised the idea in Britain’s Catholic Tablet magazine in its January 21 edition, reflecting on the possible consequences of a successful Trump-Putin meeting in the near future.

Trump has repeatedly stated his desire to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin soon after his inauguration and put US-Russian ties on a new footing.

Dejevsky, who regularly meets Kremlin leaders through the Valdai Group, which meets Russian officials each autumn, suggested Moscow could recognise Kosovo as part of a package aimed at closing down various post-Cold War diplomatic issues that have dogged relations between the powers.

In the article, Dejevsky described Trump as a deal maker who would soon size up whether the Russian leader was serious about an agreement, and would walk away and make other arrangements if he felt misled.

However, Dejevsky said Putin was investing heavily in making a deal with the new US Administration work, and was unlikely to let the opportunity slip, as it would damage his domestic standing.

The Balkans are already unstable that's why there are troops there. The most unstable places are Bosnia, Kosovo, and Macedonia (you can figure out what they all have in common).

The nation states of the western Balkans are mostly incompetent (with a few exceptions).

It will not be like the 1990's with an arms embargo placed on the region when the Serb dominated JNA had all the weapons and was able to do what it wanted.
Do you not remember that after 4 years the Croatians were able to strengthen themselves and conduct Operation Oluja?
What do you think the Bosnians and Kosovo Albanians have been doing over the last 15 years?
It will not be as easy as quick and easy as you think.

Poor little piggy. You have inherited the Slobo spirit. Dont you find it curious that no one in the former Yugoslavia wanted to stay with you. Not even Macedonia and CrnaGora. Those lands were never yours and they will never be.

Dont forget, Serbia is not in possession of the entire Yugoslav Army and resources anymore. You wont be facing ordinary citizens taking up arms. We all have armies and allies. There is not just US and Russia. Remember it was England and Germany who flew by far the most attacks. Another war in the Balkans is a suicide mission for the whole peninsula. Times have changed so be careful what you wish for.

The Balkans, where we find the lions share of the 12 countries that are Majority Eastern Orthodox Christian, will assign the "first among equals" position to Moscow.

This is a good thing, because Christians in the Mid East need championing, and frankly the US isn't in the strongest position to deliver that.

Its not just the Balkans that the US has to relinquish and the reason why is as follows:

Total US debt is $67 trillion. Federal, State and Local governments’ portion of total debt is $23 trillion collectively. The Feds owe $20 trillion and as of 1 January 2017 the next trillion is being spent. State and local Governments owe $3 trillion.
The size of the US economy is about $17 trillion, but it’s not due to increased productivity, as it’s inflated for several reasons, and one major reason is quantitative easing measures. Thus the overall percentage of debt to GDP is 400%.
The actual percentage of Government debt to GDP now is 121%, but most do not take into account intergovernmental debt of $5.5 trillion, which is a debt that attracts interest and has to be repaid so we claims of only 100% of government debt to GDP. Some prominent economists claim that these figures are conservative and believe it’s as high as 135%, depending what other debt is taken into account.
The US has unfunded liabilities of $100 trillion, once again this is a conservative figure. Others claim it’s as high as $250 trillion.
102 million live on or below the poverty line. 95 million are no longer in the labour force.
About 47% of all working adults in the US hold down fulltime jobs. According to Federal Government criteria for unemployment 15 million meet it, but the Government only claims 7.5 million are unemployed. Actual level of unemployment ranges from 24% and can be as high as 32%.

I would not call the ”Russian backed” Serbia a destabilizing factor.
The destabilizing factors are:
1. The European Union (aka Germany), which plays former Yugoslavian nations against each other.
2. The borders, which create very artificial constructions (like ”BiH”) and divide the Serbian people.
It may be difficult for many to understand, but the unified Serbia is the balancing factor Europe needs to prevent the hegemony of the unified (1990) Germany.

That's because NATO does not actually benefit the people of America. U.S. taxpayers fund most of NATO and all it's used for today is a means for neocon warmongers and war profiteers to instigate conflicts worldwide. And NATO finds itself constantly standing on the side of the terrorists whether it's in the Balkans, Libya or Syria. It's probably no wonder why people like John McCain and Lindsey Graham are rolling in Saudi money. The American people want Trump to drain this swamp.

"still more or less expressed, old nationalist regimes in the Balkans that have basically been in charge since the collapse of Yugoslavia."

Since before the collapse. The people in charge today in all ex-YU countries are the former communists and their offspring. They wear different political badges now, but they are the same corrupt scum that have actually ruled since 1945, not 1995.

"Pristina's fear of a partition of Kosovo" is "certainly justified."

Belgrade's fear of partition of Serbia is also certainly justified.

Anyway, Trump definitely wants to break the neocon hold on foreign policy. But he is just one guy, and America has a very deep state. It will be almost impossible, but that man took on the whole establishment, and won.

No its not.

The Balkans are already unstable that's why there are troops there. The most unstable places are Bosnia, Kosovo, and Macedonia (you can figure out what they all have in common).

The nation states of the western Balkans are mostly incompetent (with a few exceptions).

The pull-back of the USA is going to make them grow up very fast and to stop relying on an artificially imposed stability.

Grow up and solve your problems. Negotiate with your neighbors. Figure it out. Grow your economy. Make yourself useful in the global war against islamic terrorism.

Finally, after 27 years the USA is doing the right thing for itself. The last 27 years have been a disaster for all Americans and finally we are rid of it.

First I do not work for Dacic nor do I live in Serbia. For that matter I was not born in that country, but I do love the Serb people.

Yes the US spends more than the combined military budgets of Russia, China, and Iran. However, they produce crap like the F35 and there are others such as Littoral combat ships. "Trump will have no interest in that. To him, this is a second and third-rate issue"

RUSSIA is going to destabilize the Balkans?
NO, no, no, no, no, You along with your pals and Jihadists the Bosniaks and Croatians have destabilized the Balkans with a lot of help from Clinton.
Who started the mess? Who broke away without any consultation from the government and that is unconstitutional? Serbia didn't start attacking anyone. You started it with breakaways and land grabs.

I always knew and said that once Trump takes office a shiny new world will begin.
(Peggy, 19 January 2017 21:17)

I can't believe how many Serbians here are joyful at the thought of another war. Whether it is in Bosnia or in Kosovo you have to realize that if it happens a lot more Serbian blood will be shed.
A lot more Serbian blood will be spilled if you continue to follow your current batch of "leaders".

First I do not work for Dacic nor do I live in Serbia. For that matter I was not born in that country, but I do love the Serb people.

Too funny.

Russian backed Serbia is going to destabilize the Balkans as always.

##

If Russian interest is to expand her influence in Balkan i just have a simple question for Serbs: Why she will help you destabilizing all the region? I don't mean to offend anyone, there are good people on both sides. But to create something who can't stand on its own feet, disaster is coming sooner or later. We wonder the real intention of those big powers who are calling the shots. Decent ordinary Balkan people deserve peace and prosperity. You all know well who really profitted and will continue to profit from conflict on any side. Learn from your own mistakes, and give your children and grandchildren a chance of peace.

Sorry, sj, I should respond more positively to you. So here is one...

"As one US analyst said, the other side gets more bang for their buck."

This is a good observation, almost certainly true.

I see its an other dumb arse statement LOL.

Why? Kosovo living independently from Serbia from 1999 to present cannot be undone (as commanded by the CE of B92 forums sj)?!

P.S. CE = Chief Economist

The AI’s propensity for dumb-arse comments are staggering LOL. It can’t debate since it gets ripped to pieces if it says something of any “substance” so it can only come out with it usual dribble of CE, etc, etc or making inane posts LOL.

You still haven't provided any proof that I am Albanian. As it turns out, I have only been to Albania twice (both times sightseeing) and to KiM a few times. I prefer Kopaonik and Tara and Stara Planina to any mountain in KiM, and visit the mountains around Sarajevo sooner than southern KiM. Just my preference. You should come visit us in Serbia sometime.
(JS, 21 January 2017 08:52)

OK then since I have not proved it, what are you then?

Are you the new Pentagon spokesperson, dear?! Just asking because I could not find any announcement from the new US Defense Secretary that a certain Watcher has been appointed as the new Pentagon spokesperson.
(icj1, 22 January 2017 00:42)

How do you know that Watcher is not a Pentagon spokesperson, dear? They don’t list everyone that works on the defence department’s website mate.

@ sj

Two rather clear hints were: the mention of "our Serbian nation" and the invitation to "come visit us in Serbia sometime."

Just wondering but are you (sj) and icj1 the same person?
