There are different reasons for having planes and tanks, most of them connected to being able to support them with artillery, long and medium range rockets and an immense amount of footsoldiers etc. Quantity matters if you want to invade a country. 500 Planes, super effective. 20 MiG-29, not worth the money in an attack situation. With approx. $11Mio unit costs, might as well attack with Paper planes.

Anyhow, I`m not going to explain to you basic military strategy because it doesn’t matter. You think we are a lightweight, I say you are forgetting that this is not Yugo anymore.

I guess we won`t find out until we find out. Until then, you can visit as a tourist.

What a shame the US did not have your brilliant strategic mind in Iraq or Afghanistan. I'm not even military but I see you talking crap. I seriously doubt that you have been to Kosovo LOL. As far as tourism is concerned who in their right mind would visit Kosovo in its current state???

So according to you the superpowers are all wasting their time building aircraft/helicopters and tanks since they “are not useful anymore against regular Armies”. Perhaps you could pop a letter in the mail to the Pentagon on the issue or even better tell the Ukrainians.
I have no idea what army you served in but I can tell you right now an aircraft can release its payload of rockets from a height of 20 000/30 000 metres or 30 kilometres away from its target and your manpad would be ashes like the person holding it. Yes the Manpad has its uses such against low level flying aircraft and its very effective too, but it is limited to how much it can do.
I have some very bad news for you, but Russia does not want to defeat Ukraine. The current situation suits Moscow perfectly, but about 2 or 3 years ago the Ukraine army launched a large scale assault on Donesk. On the news that night were pictures of burnt out tanks, transporters, personnel carriers etc along a road and the BBC reporter said this was the same picture for the next 5 kilometres. Russia literally burn the Ukraine army to a crisp.
Where did this 30% come from? What resources would be lost? Kosovo is child’s play mate. Currently even in its present economic state Serbia has the strongest army in the Balkans and can turn Kosovo into ashes before setting one foot there.
No you don’t have enough funding since Kosovo’s entire administration is funded by Brussels.

You might try a figure of 40% of your wages year after year with no end. You need at least 10 to 15 F16s alone and at $165 million plus cost of maintenance which is ongoing plus constant training and this is only one small part of an army. Its a pipe dream mate.
(sj, 19 January 2017 23:00)

Why buy a $165Mio plane when you can have a $8Mio Manpad? For the price of one plane, I can shoot down all your planes.
You see, planes are not useful anymore against regular Armies. Just like battle tanks, they are an easy target. It also takes more effort to attack than to defend. Russia has a 2500x higher GPD than Ukraine and almost 4x more people and still hasn’t been able to defeat them. While Serbias GPD is only 6x higher with 3x more people compared to Kosovo. Manpower fit for military ratio is even lower.

As someone who`s served for quite some time in the military, let me tell you one thing that every Army knows. If chances are that you could win by losing up to 30% of your population, resources, army etc. you lose too.

It`s nice that you seem to care about our funding but trust me, we have enough for what it`s needed. Don’t worry about that.

Pardon me if this sounds a bit "tacky" but I'm noticing that I received more negative ratings for my previous comments and that got me thinking that if this is a way of being told that it's tacky that some Americans nickname police "popo" I hope that I'm not somehow being blamed for this term when it's not me who coined the term "popo" ,besides, like I just mentioned that it's an American slang term and myself I'm a born and raised Canadian.Personally that term never made me laugh and honest to God if there are actually some Albanian parents who don't want their kids to be taught to nickname cops popos all because they feel it's a disrespectful term I admit that's their prerogative, however, though it may sound tacky perhaps just perhaps some Albanian parents may feel that if they and their kids reside in or visit America that it's okay to nickname American cops popos but not to use that term in addressing Albanian cops.

Whether Kosovo is sovereign or it's still a territory of Serbia that's autonomous and as long as Kosovo has its own police force doesn't that mean that the police force can have more jurisdiction over the republic or territory than Serbia?

By the way since this article regards ethnic Albanian cops I'm sure some you are aware in previous articles that I mentioned that in America police are sometimes nicknamed "popo" which sounds like saying "yesyes" in Albanian since the word po means yes in that language so even though it's possible or probable that most Albanian adults perhaps even teens consider "popo" to be an odd nickname for police but it's Albanian kids or considerably younger Albanian kids who may find popo to be a funny nickname for cops I should have asked some time ago would most Albanian cops be offended to be nicknamed popo or would many of them simply find it odd or humorous?

But let's not have that because it would require more bloodshed and the Balkans have seen enough. Serbia should actively oppose 'kosovo' statehood politically, and only send forces if our civilians are in immediate danger. Otherwise, Serbia should focus on the economic growth that it is currently on, and most Albanians will eventually come around to a more sensible arrangement!

Ari Gold

pre 7 godina

The northern Serb community have consistently thwarted any attempts by Pristina to impose its will on the region. This is an undeniable fact. Belgrade, looking to preserve peace, pulled the train back because they knew what was about to happen. It would have been worse than 2011 when the ROSU terror squads tried to invade overnight and left retreating with one terrorist even shot dead.

And that's just the local Serbs, with their own state trying to sabotage them. If Serbia actually got involved, nothing short of a NATO bombing could stop us. So the question is whether NATO warmongers are in the position today to do that again or not. This isn't about Russia, Serbia just needs less NATO in the region to be victorious.

This is blown out of proportion by Serbs, who in the world does not have the right to control their own borders, preventing unauthorized, provocative, trains to enter in their own country?

I suggest Serbs brush up on Brussels agreements and read them carefully, and fully comprehend what has been signed by Serbian party at negotiating table.

No wonder Vucic all of sudden want want hotline, peace, and stability. 3 days ago he had a completely different tone.

As far as Nikolic goes, he is trying to win another election, and what better way then using serbiana of Kosovo? Or is the best and most efficient way to gain popularity in Serbia, by spewing false information about situation of Serbs in Kosovo.

Thank you NATO for telling this Serbian Criminals Nikolic and Vucic. Mitrovices is Kosovo Land and Kosovo police can go there any time they want. If Serbs live in Mitrovica don't like it they don't have to stay there can go live in Serbia or Russia.

Well, there you have it Serbs, Kosovos special forces acted alone and consulted no one.

Those days are over, Serbs fortunately see it for themselves, their government has been lying to them for a long time.

Nikolic can take his sons and give it a try, Russia ain't coming lol.

You might try a figure of 40% of your wages year after year with no end. You need at least 10 to 15 F16s alone and at $165 million plus cost of maintenance which is ongoing plus constant training and this is only one small part of an army. Its a pipe dream mate.

So looks like SNS is lying...? If it was agreed show us the document.

Looks like Djuric and Nikolic F up big time, is this document translated or does it even exist.

If there is agreement there must be in writing, do not say oh we had promise as that is not agreement.

(Gjon Marku, 20 January 2017 14:28)
