My information from contacts at the Embassy in Sarajevo is that Dodik does not have an official invitation for the inauguration but simply a ticket to a ball that he himself has purchased. If Trump had invited Dodik in an official capacity he would have received a visa; no ambassador hoping to keep their job when the new administration takes office would play the type of games that Dodik is suggesting. The Bosnian Foreign Minister (a Serb) has confirmed that no official invitation has been sent to Dodik, albeit Crnadak is from the PDP and may have an axe to grind. Dodik could always simply apply for a tourist visa and attend whatever balls he wants. Equally he could stay at home and address some of the serious issues facing both the RS and BiH as a whole.

Ari Gold: Firstly, to answer your question about the visa. Dodik applied to have a visa placed in his diplomatic passport, something that requires him to be travelling in an official capacity. Had he applied for a tourist visa in his normal passport in order to attend a function as a private citizen then there is every likelihood that he would have been successful. Dodik's problem is that he sees himself as anything but a normal citizen and wouldn't sink as low as to simply apply for the same visa as Joe Public. In the same way that footballers are given complimentary tickets for matches for friends and family so the transition team and Trump's friends almost certainly have tickets for the inauguration to hand out. The recipients of these are no more official guests of Mr trump than the footballers' families are official guests of whichever club they play for.

As for 'Drain the Swamp', Trump has disowned this slogan and the sentiment behind it, having already appointed a number of swamp dwellers to his new team, not least Reince Priebus.
