Democrats hold Main Board meeting

BELGRADE The Democratic Party (DS) is holding a Main Board session on Sunday in Belgrade to prepare for the upcoming party elections. The session was opened around 13:00 CET with DS leader Boris Tadic’s report on the party’s work in the previous period. Tadic said he insisted that the party be social-democratic in its character since the biggest problem in the society was poverty. He added that the DS would continue to be a rational opposition party. He said that the government was fighting against corruption but that it still had not proven that this was not just a fight against political opponents. Tadic should also decide whether he would run for the DS leader at the election assembly on November 25. The election assembly was supposed to be held on November 10 but Tadic and his deputy Dragan Djilas agreed to postpone them so the party could discuss condition presented by Tadic.
