The Serbian star spoke to CBS Mornings about what continues to drive him, despite already securing his place among the greatest athletes of all time."There's always something to prove to myself and to others," Djokovic said in an interview with Gayle King.Novak emphasized that his greatest motivation is personal growth."I can always be better than I was yesterday," he said.Despite being 39 years old, Djokovic is still fully focused on competing at the highest level, though he admits his body is reminding him of his age more often."You're just trying to squeeze out every extra percentage you can so you're still able to compete at the highest level with the younger guys," he explained.When asked who his biggest rival is, Djokovic didn't hesitate with his answer."My biggest rival is myself, always," Djokovic said.The Serbian tennis star added that the energy he receives from the fans and the respect shown to him around the world mean a great deal at this stage of his career."One of the biggest reasons I continue to compete is the energy from the fans, along with the gratitude and respect I've been receiving, especially over the past few years, all around the world. I can't thank people enough for that," Djokovic said.
