The new Tomasevac railway bridge over the Tamis River is being built not far from the existing railway-road bridge between Orlovat and Tomaševac, a village on the territory of the town of Zrenjanin.On May 31, 2025, the infrastructure of the Serbian Railways started construction of a new railway bridge over the river Tamis, which is about 120 meters long and is located on the railway between Pancevo and Zrenjanin. The agreed deadline for the completion of the works was 460 days.The entire contracted section is 1,400 meters. The main girder of the new bridge is a steel structure that bridges three spans of 40 meters each, replicating the old bridge.At the end of the project, the contractor will install 500 tons of structural steel and 2,600 cubic meters of concrete into the bridge itself, while 170 tons of rails and 1,800 sleepers will be placed on the cement-stabilized embankment in the entire section, in which 24,000 cubic meters of material will be installed.The value of this bridge is 12.5 million euros."After many years, this is the first time that our companies have worked independently anywhere on such a demanding facility. The most important is the highway Belgrade - Zrenjanin because it will bring investors and industry to Zrenjanin. The construction of the fourth branch of the bypass will start soon so that the city can breathe better and better, we will also change the water supply network that is causing losses," he underlined, speaking about new projects concerning Zrenjanin itself."I don't know if you understand that the life of Zrenjanin is completely changing with the construction of the highway, and I believe that in 2.5 years we will finish it completely. Then you can work in Belgrade or Novi Sad and vice versa, live in Belgrade and work in Zrenjanin. These are huge changes in the standard of living," added Vučić.
