Yesterday, someone attempted to blow up the gas pipeline on the Serbian side. We are checking that everything is fine on the Hungarian side. We will make up for that from another source, but the gas pipeline is an even bigger &lsquo;artery,&rsquo;&rdquo; Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said at a press conference in Kiskundorozsma, where military protection of the Hungarian section of the TurkStream pipeline has been reinforced. He was inspecting the infrastructure after explosives were found yesterday on the Serbian side of the pipeline, reports Magyar Nemzet.He recalled that the pipeline had already been blocked before, which is one of the reasons the TurkStream was constructed. &ldquo;We are currently under a Ukrainian gas blockade, but we can compensate for the loss from the south. If this lifeline is cut, the Hungarian economy will come to a halt,&rdquo; Orban stated. He added that &ldquo;for now, Hungary&rsquo;s gas supply is not at risk, but we must be extremely cautious.&rdquo;Orban set out this morning at 6 a.m. toward the Serbian border, in Kiskundorozsma near Szeged, to check that everything was in order with the pipeline on the Hungarian side.On Sunday afternoon, the Hungarian Prime Minister convened an emergency session of the country&rsquo;s Defense Council after Serbian military services discovered an explosive device and activation equipment on critical gas infrastructure connecting Serbia and Hungary.Following the meeting, Orban announced that military forces protecting the Hungarian section of the TurkStream pipeline would be further reinforced. Orban also stated that the pipeline is operating normally without interruption.Earlier, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced that two large packages of explosives with detonators had been found in the municipality of Kanjiža, and emphasized that the Serbian Army successfully foiled an action against the country&rsquo;s vital interests. He added that Serbia will deal ruthlessly with anyone who attempts to threaten its critical infrastructure.The TurkStream pipeline transports 7.5 to 8 billion cubic meters of gas annually and serves as Hungary&rsquo;s main energy artery.
