Iranian state news agency IRIB reported that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described the alleged Iranian five-point plan as media “speculation.” At the same time, he reiterated that Iran is not seeking a ceasefire, but rather a comprehensive resolution to the conflict on its own terms.According to reports, Araghchi also stated that the war will continue until “the aggressor is punished and Iran receives full compensation.” Iran has previously indicated that any potential agreement could only come with a halt to attacks, guarantees against recurrence, and war reparations.Earlier today, U.S. President Donald Trump posted on social media that the “president of the new Iranian regime” had requested a ceasefire, and that the U.S. would consider it only once the Strait of Hormuz is open, free, and secure.“The president of the new Iranian regime, who is far less radical and much smarter than his predecessors, has just requested a CEASEFIRE from the United States! We will consider it when the Strait of Hormuz is open, free, and secure. Until then, let’s flatten Iran—or, as they say, return it to the Stone Age!!!”It remains unclear whether Trump was referring to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, in office since July 2024, or to Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, who succeeded his father last month.These statements come amid Trump’s repeated recent claims that the U.S. and Iran are negotiating to end the war, while simultaneously threatening escalation of U.S. military operations. Last night, he told reporters at the White House that U.S. objectives in Iran would be achieved within “two or three weeks.”

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi rejected U.S. President Donald Trump’s claim that Tehran had sought a ceasefire, saying that Iran did not make such a proposal and is not asking for a truce.
