According to CNN, the parties agreed that a potential deal concerning the island would involve strengthening NATO’s role, expanding U.S. access to resources, and banning investments from Russia and China. At the same time, Axios reports that the project does not involve transferring sovereignty over the island to the Americans. Instead, the plan is to deploy "Iron Dome" missile defense systems there.
