Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned that Iran “will retaliate with everything it has if attacked again,” at a time when a U.S. carrier strike group is moving from Asia toward the West, specifically the Middle East. The head of Iranian diplomacy made this warning in an op-ed published in the Wall Street Journal. He reiterated that the “violent phase of unrest lasted less than 72 hours” and blamed Iranian protesters for the violence, according to media reports.“Unlike the restraint Iran showed in June 2025, our powerful armed forces have no problem retaliating with everything we have if we find ourselves under attack again,” Araghchi wrote, alluding to the twelve-day war that Israel launched against Iran.“This is not a threat, but a reality I feel compelled to explicitly convey, because as a diplomat and veteran, I despise war,” he added. He also said that “the conflict would be fierce, would involve the wider region, and would impact ordinary people around the world.”Araghchi’s participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos has been canceled due to the situation in Iran.“The Iranian foreign minister will not attend Davos. Although he was invited last fall, the tragic loss of civilian life in Iran over the past few weeks makes it inappropriate for the Iranian government to be represented at Davos this year,” the World Economic Forum announced.
