Srbijagas CEO Dušan Bajatović stated that an agreement with Gazprom ensures that Serbia will receive 10 million cubic meters of gas per day through the Balkan Stream until the end of March."The good thing is that payment is monthly. We have also purchased and already paid for six million cubic meters per day from Hungarian MVM, 1.1 million from Azerbaijan, and we can count on 2.5 million cubic meters from Banatski Dvor plus an additional three million from Hungary, from gas storage that Serbia purchased and paid for. If I calculate correctly, that totals 22.6 million cubic meters of gas per day that Serbia can rely on," Bajatović said.He told RTS that this is more than enough, considering that Serbia's historical maximum consumption was 17 million cubic meters per day. According to these figures, he believes Serbia will even have a surplus of gas."We did this deliberately, simply because we secured all the necessary capacities. That was the biggest problem, which is why negotiations took so long. Everyone is criticizing from this angle, because there isn’t enough gas in Europe. We secured adequate storage capacities, both in Banatski Dvor and in Hungary. Therefore, we will continue to increase reserves until the end of the heating season," Bajatović emphasized. He added that at this pace, Serbia has sufficient gas until autumn and expressed confidence that the contract with Russia will be extended.Bajatović also noted that Serbia signed a binding annex agreement with all the mentioned parties."We also have some gas reserves from Azerbaijan, as well as additional LNG reserves from Greece, so Serbia cannot run out of gas. Therefore, the main question here is the price. This is good news for industry—we will not run out of gas, unlike Europe. This is also good news for our citizens. It is good news for EPS as well, if needed they can use all available capacities. Srbijagas, in cooperation with the Government of Serbia, has secured more than sufficient quantities of gas," Bajatović concluded.
