Under the current law, citizens are conscripted twice a year&mdash;from April 1 to July 15 and from October 1 to December 31, Interfax reports.Conscription includes a medical examination, a professional psychological assessment, and a meeting with the commission, all of which will now be conducted year-round.According to the new law, conscription summonses will also be issued throughout the entire year, said the Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee, Andrey Kartapolov.Shutterstock/Artyom SobolevAccording to him, the aim of the change is to reduce the workload of military registration and enlistment offices, which will now be able to operate normally throughout the year, instead of being under pressure during three-month periods.At the same time, Putin signed a law allowing citizens who voluntarily join the military reserve to be mobilized for the protection of vital facilities and infrastructure in the country.Currently, units composed of reservists are only activated during periods of mobilization or in wartime.The new law enables reservists to undergo special training for the protection of critical facilities and infrastructure.
