However, in 2009, Pristina formed the so-called Kosovo Security Forces (KBS/KSF) from the Kosovo Protection Corps, i.e. the former so-called KLA. In 2018, the assembly of interim institutions, without the presence of Serbian representatives, adopted the law on the transformation of the so-called KSF to the armed forces.

Albin Kurti, the prime minister of the temporary Pristina institutions in the technical mandate, said that more than one billion euros will be allocated to the so-called Kosovo Security Forces in the next four years.
