Supreme Court in Pristina rejected the appeal of Self-Determination against the certification of Serb List

According to the decision of the Supreme Court, Sami Kurteshi and Alban Krasniqi have no legitimacy to file an appeal, because they are not direct parties to the decision of the electoral panel, reports Koha.The judicial panel stated that, in addition to legal entities, only the CEC has the right to file an appeal to the Supreme Court against that decision, as defined by the law on general elections.On August 26, Self-Determination filed an appeal with the Supreme Court in Pristina against the decision of the Election Panel for Appeals and Petitions, which ordered the Central Election Commission to allow the Serb List to participate in the local elections in Kosovo and Metohija scheduled for October 12.On August 24, the Electoral Appeals Panel overturned the CEC&#39;s decision to reject the confirmation of the candidates of the Serb List due to, as stated, the assessment that they did not meet the legal criteria for participation in the elections.In their appeal against the CEC&#39;s decision, the representatives of the Serb List pointed out that it was illegal and discriminatory and pointed out that on August 20, the office for registration, confirmation and financial control of political entities gave a recommendation to the CEC to confirm the candidate of that party.Even before the elections for the assembly of temporary institutions held on February 9, self-determination tried to prevent the certification of the Serbian List, so its application to participate in the elections was certified only after the verdict of the Supreme Court.
