According to initial reports, the suspect was arrested and taken into custody shortly after the incident. Police said the motive for the shooting remains unknown and that the investigation is ongoing.

Police and emergency services have launched a major operation in Stade, Bild reported.

"WARNING – Police operation on Dankersstraße in Stade. A police operation is currently underway in Stade. Please avoid the area as much as possible," the local police wrote on X.

A police spokesperson confirmed that five people were killed. According to the initial police reports, the shooting took place in the Dankersstraße area of Stade, in the German state of Lower Saxony. Police have arrested the suspect.

 

According to Bild, citing police, all of the victims were adults, while several other people were injured.

The crime scene is located in the immediate vicinity of a youth centre. Investigators have begun collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses.
