"Hercules C-130" crashes during takeoff; Horrific footage from the crash site VIDEO
The Colombian Ministry of Defense announced today that a military “Hercules C-130” aircraft was involved in a crash in the south of the South American country, while local media report that there were around 110 soldiers on board.
Colombian Defense Minister Pedro Sánchez stated that the crash occurred during takeoff from a base in the Colombian part of the Amazon rainforest, near the border with Peru, while the plane was transporting members of the armed forces, Reuters reported.
“The exact number of casualties and the cause of the crash have not yet been determined,” Sánchez said.
Local radio BluRadio, citing official sources, reports that there were 110 soldiers on the plane and that the crash occurred about three kilometers from the urban center.
At the end of February, another “Hercules C-130” aircraft, owned by the Bolivian Air Force, crashed in the city of El Alto, killing more than 20 people and injuring around 30.
Banknotes from the cargo of the aircraft were scattered throughout the city, sparking clashes between residents and security forces.
