Christmas turns into nightmare: Dead and injured – Police kill attacker PHOTO
One woman was killed in the city of Boden in northern Sweden, while two other people were taken to the hospital, police said, adding that the suspect was shot dead during the intervention.
Police were called to a residential building in the center of Boden just before noon on Christmas Day, after reports that a man had injured several people in the house, according to Aftonbladet.
A large-scale police operation was quickly launched, and at around 17:40, it was confirmed that officers had fired and killed the suspect.
According to the report, two police officers opened fire on the suspect, who was standing near the entrance. The suspect, a man around 20 years old, is accused of killing a woman approximately 55 years old, allegedly with a cold weapon, specifically a knife.
Two other people who were in the house were taken to the hospital, with at least one sustaining injuries.
Police stated that, for now, there is no information suggesting any connection between the suspect and the victims. According to unofficial sources, the police were alerted by one of the injured individuals, and the suspect had reportedly been in the house for several hours before the police arrived.
Boden is located about 80 kilometers south of the Arctic Circle and is home to Sweden’s 19th Infantry Regiment.
