Drama in Washington: Attempt to shoot down Trump's helicopter PHOTO/VIDEO

As this portal states, the incident took place on Saturday evening on Constitution Avenue in Washington where Diego Santiago, the Secret Service agent in charge of securing the head of the White House, noticed a man naked to the waist who was "talking to himself and being loud".

That man was watching the US President's helicopter.

"Due to the dim lighting on the sidewalk, Santiago pointed a flashlight (at the suspect) in order to get a better look at him. The suspect then aimed and fired a red laser beam at Santiago's face, apparently to retaliate. The red laser beam hit Santiago in the eyes and briefly disoriented him," the court documents published in connection with this incident state.

Santiago then approached the man, later identified as Jacob Samuel Winkler, who pointed that same red laser pointer in the direction of "Marin Yuan" and activated the laser beam.

Santiago reacted immediately, took away the device and handcuffed Winkler.

As NBC news writes, a knife was also found with the suspect during the search.

Under questioning, Winkler said he didn't know it was illegal to point a laser at aircraft and claimed to do so "randomly," including sometimes pointing them at street signs.

American television states that, according to court documents, his behavior "presented a risk of sudden loss of vision and pilot disorientation, especially during low-altitude flight near other US Park Police and Marine Corps helicopters, as well as the Washington Monument."

It is said that there was a risk of a mid-air collision for the presidential helicopter.

The suspect faces up to five years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
