CNN: Pakistan will not respond to India's attack until a diplomatic solution is attempted

Pakistan does not want to respond to India's attack until the United States, Saudi Arabia and other countries try to resolve the dispute diplomatically, a Pakistani government source told CNN.

The source said that Pakistan was leaving room for diplomacy, denying that Pakistan had attacked India, noting that Pakistan had called on the US to confirm or deny India's claims about Pakistani attacks based on satellite images.

He also said that so far there has been no direct communication between Indian and Pakistani officials.

Ambassador to the USA: India in the "war with terrorists"

India's ambassador to the US, Vinay Quatra, described the country's actions against Pakistan as a "war on terror" in an interview with CNN on Thursday.

He reiterated India's position that Pakistan was the "original escalator" of tensions and said Delhi was only reacting to Islamabad's actions. India has blamed "Pakistan-based terrorists" for a deadly attack on tourists in April that killed 26 civilians - Islamabad has denied any link.

When asked by the hosts if India was "at war" with Pakistan, Mr. Quatra did not give a clear answer, but when pressed, said that India was "at war with terrorists".

Asked if it was possible for tensions to escalate to the level of nuclear war, given that both countries have nuclear weapons, Mr. Quatra replied: "That's for you to ask Pakistan."

Pakistan's ambassador to the US is expected to appear in a televised interview with CNN in the coming days.
