A harrowing account from the Serb who looked out of the plane window: "This is a nightmare, I can't recover"

The incident happened on Friday morning, July 10, on a Ryanair flight. A few minutes after takeoff, according to the passengers' testimonies, there was a deafening bang when part of the engine separated and hit the window next to which the 61-year-old Serb was sitting.

The impact shattered the window, and the sudden decompression caused the passenger to be pulled toward the hatch, with his head and shoulders protruding from the fuselage at about 20,000 feet. His wife, along with other passengers, held him until they managed to get him back inside the plane.

"I was covered in blood, my face and hands were bleeding"

Almost two weeks later, in an interview with the German newspaper Bild, Ljubiša Karović described the dramatic moments he experienced:

"I was sleeping. After a while, I was woken up by a very loud bang that sounded like a bomb explosion. I was only conscious for a moment, and I don't remember the rest. When I regained consciousness, I was covered in blood. Blood was running down my face and hands. As soon as I close my eyes, images of everything I experienced during those few minutes come back to me. It is a nightmare that I cannot describe in words."
