"Since the video of that event was published in the media and on social networks, we invite citizens who recognize the man from the video or have any information about his whereabouts and movements to call 192 or contact the nearest police station," the MIA announced.

On this occasion, the mayor of Novi Sad, Žarko Mićin, spoke out and condemned the act of vandalism in the strongest terms.

In a post on his Instagram profile, he expressed his deep indignation over the unusual incident that shocked the citizens of Novi Sad.

"I strongly condemn the act of vandalism by an unknown person who urinated on flowers left by citizens near the scene of the tragedy at the train station. Novi Sad is a city of peace and tolerance and this kind of desecration of the scene of the tragedy is absolutely inadmissible. I call on the competent authorities to urgently determine the identity of the perpetrator of this heinous act and initiate appropriate procedures in accordance with the law," Mićin wrote on X, media reports.
