The session is scheduled for 12:00 p.m., and as previously announced by parliament, the agenda contains a single item: an address by Saqr Ghobash to the National Assembly.
Two cooperation agreements will also be signed. According to officials in the Serbian parliament, this will be the first time a memorandum of cooperation has been signed with the general secretariat of another country's parliament.
Speaker of the National Assembly Ana Brnabić said, regarding the special session, that as long as the parliamentary majority led by the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) decides so, the Assembly will always show respect to countries that stood by Serbia in difficult times.
She noted that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the United Arab Emirates sent several aircraft carrying more than 10 tons of protective equipment for Serbian healthcare workers and citizens, as well as medical equipment, scanners, ventilators, and medicines. She added that these donations helped healthcare workers save hundreds of lives.
As part of his visit to Serbia, Saqr Ghobash met on Tuesday with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, who emphasized that joint projects in recent years have provided a strong boost to the partnership between the two countries and that the UAE is one of Serbia’s most important partners in the Gulf region.
In a post on Instagram, Vučić said that he and Ghobash discussed overall bilateral relations and the further strengthening of political dialogue, economic cooperation, investment, trade, and joint projects.
Ghobash will remain in Serbia until June 4. He is also scheduled to visit the construction site for Expo 2027 Belgrade and the Ložionica redevelopment project.
