The arrests were carried out by members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Directorate for Technical Affairs, and the Department for Combating High-Tech Crime, in cooperation with the Police Department for the City of Belgrade, the Valjevo Police Department, the Novi Sad Police Department, the Sremska Mitrovica Police Department, and the Niš Police Department, acting on the orders of the Special Department for Combating High-Tech Crime.

Those arrested are I. M. (1974) from Belgrade, V. L. (1977) from Valjevo, B. L. (1989) from Novi Sad, D. O. (1967) from Sremska Mitrovica, and S. Dj. (2002) from Niš, according to a statement by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The individuals are suspected of having, over an extended period of time, used the internet to download, store, and share content created through the sexual exploitation of children for pornographic purposes. It is alleged that they created fake profiles on social networks and applications, posing as 11- and 12-year-old girls in order to establish contact with minors, from whom they requested and obtained sexually explicit photographs and video materials featuring the victims.

Furthermore, the suspects are alleged to have used the Telegram application and specialized chat applications to exchange materials created through the sexual exploitation of children online.

During searches of the apartments and other premises used by the suspects, the police found computers and computer equipment. Upon examination, photographs and video recordings created through the sexual exploitation of children were discovered on these devices.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs once again emphasizes that the safety of children is an absolute priority in the work of the Department for Combating High-Tech Crime, which handles such cases on a daily basis through individual reports as well as national and international operations. Every report indicating a possible threat to the safety of minors is treated with the highest level of urgency.

This fact is further confirmed by the results achieved during 2025 and 2026, when 75 individuals suspected of committing criminal offenses against children in the digital environment were arrested. Many of these cases directly threatened children’s safety, as online predators established direct contact with their victims.

Through close cooperation with relevant institutions in the country and abroad, activities will continue aimed at the rapid detection, identification, and arrest of perpetrators, with the goal of making the online environment safer for every child.
