The police announced yesterday that with the rescue team and the Mountain Rescue Service, they searched half of the 7-kilometer route of the Lazar's Canyon, and they also searched the pit above the canyon, which is 70 meters deep.

Lawyer: A court process is possible even without a body

Lawyer Predrag Savić stated that, if the body of the murdered two-year-old girl Danka Ilić from Bor is not found, it is possible to prosecute the suspects for her murder based on the evidence collected so far.

"There are the confessions of the perpetrators, their concealers who are from the immediate family, we have a lot of other evidence regarding the origin of the traffic accident, blood on the car, asphalt... It is possible to perform a simple or 3D reconstruction of the origin of the traffic accident, from which it will be seen that was such that it could not produce fatal consequences because the speed was 20 kilometers. Based on all that evidence, it is very likely that the child was killed in the way that one of the defendants admitted," he stated.

Savić notes that it would be good for the criminal proceedings to find the body, to perform an autopsy, to conduct a forensic medical examination and to scientifically prove the cause-and-effect relation between injuries and death.

When asked if he is personally in favor of introducing the death penalty for the most serious crimes, such as the murder of a two-year-old girl, Savić replied that as a person and a parent he is in favor of it, but that as a lawyer he considers it a very difficult, almost impossible mission.

"I regret that in 2002, when the death penalty was abolished, I was in favor of the abolition of the death penalty. I believed then that the abolition of the death penalty would contribute to the development of human freedoms and rights, that the European convention would mean a lot for Serbia, that the presence of Serbia in the Council of Europe in European integration to be much more effective. I also believed those who analyzed and researched the problem of the death penalty and said that it does not have a general effect of prevention," said the lawyer.

Terrain full of holes and pits; Speleologists on the field

It is assumed that the further search for the body of Danka Ilić will go in the direction of the vicinity of the village of Zlot and the Lazar's Canyon, reports the Tanjug reporter.

There are many holes and pits in that area, which can be used to hide bodies.

As the Tanjug reporter reports, specialist teams, alpinists, and speleologists need to carry out the search, so that no one else gets in danger.

The search will, as is assumed, be based on the village of Zlot and its surroundings, because there are many places to hide, and the Lazar's Cave is also located some three to four kilometers away.

Members of the Emergency Situations Sector and the Mountain Rescue Service are not only searching the atar of the village, but also talking to the locals in order to get any information that can point them in the direction where Danka Ilić's body could be.

"He doesn't want to say where the body is"

State Secretary in the Ministry of Internal Affairs Željko Brkić says that over 1,500 police officers in cooperation with over 1,000 citizens from various services contributed to finding the murdered Danka Ilić.

"We directed the searches of the terrain to those locations where the suspects told us they left Danka Ilić's body. For now, we are examining the bed of the Zlotska River," he said.

The behavior of the suspects, for whom there is evidence that they committed the crime of aggravated murder, is described by Željko Brkić as the most monstrous form of human behavior.

.While one described in detail how he killed Danka Ilić, the other decided to defend himself by remaining silent.

"It is difficult to find out the motives why he does not want to cooperate. But you can see such a lack of empathy and recklessness in them, even now when he is faced with the truth, the suspect does not want to say where he hid Danka Ilić's body. This shows a great lack of empathy. That child has the right to a dignified burial, so that the parents can dedicate a burial place to her. They are deprived of any human feeling," says Brkić.

Brkić says that so far enough evidence has been collected on the basis of which the indictment can be presented and adds that the competent authorities will be able to pass an appropriate verdict.

Brkić also states that it is difficult to mentally reconstruct this crime and that he hopes that Danka Ilić's body will be found soon.

Is the last person who knew where Danka Ilić's body is dead?

Before his death, D.D. (40), the brother of suspect D.D. (50), admitted that he helped his brother get rid of the body, but did not reveal where.

Also, according to current information from the police, he could be a key witness in the search, given that the suspect does not want to reveal where he disposed of the girl's body after he and S.J. dumped it at the landfill on Starobanjski put.

The last location the suspect's brother took the police to

During Saturday, D.D. was taken by the police to several locations within the village of Zlot. The last one he stayed at was one of the pumping stations in the area of the town.

On that occasion, D.D. took the police to the gas station in the atar of the village of Zlot, where he stayed on the ground for about an hour.

Access to that location was not possible for journalists during the procedure.

The location itself is overgrown with bushes and is located on a hill above the cart road that leads to the atar of Zlot.
