Major project underway: Team formed for road and tunnel under Kadinjača
The Government of Serbia has adopted a decision to form a working group for conducting negotiations and contracting the implementation of the project for the construction of state road IB class No. 28, the Dub–Dubci section, including a tunnel under Kadinjača.
The task of the working group, as emphasized, is to conduct negotiations with potential contractors, during which the value of services and works for the construction of this state road and tunnel will be defined, along with the key elements needed to conclude a commercial contract, as well as determining the project implementation timeline, the decision states.
Upon completing its work, the working group will submit a report to the Government containing the main elements of the commercial contract and recommendations for further steps, according to eKapija.
Miroslav Alempić has been appointed head of the working group, serving as acting assistant minister of construction, transport and infrastructure.
As a reminder, last month the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure issued a temporary construction permit to Public Enterprise “Putevi Srbije” for preparatory works on part of the future expressway from Užice via Kadinjača to Bajina Bašta. The permit covers the section “Užice bypass,” from the Zlatiborski put (Surduk interchange) – Sinjevac – Volujac (km 0+000 to 4+845).
One of the most important structures on the future IB-class state road will be the tunnel under Kadinjača, with construction previously announced to begin in November last year. In March 2023, the Ministry of Environmental Protection approved the environmental impact assessment study for the tunnel project.
The tunnel, designed for a speed of 80 km/h, is expected to significantly improve traffic by bypassing a series of sharp hairpin bends on the old road over Kadinjača, a section where snow regularly causes traffic disruptions.
