Ministry of Economy Supports Development of Small and Family-Owned Businesses

"For the first time, the Ministry of Economy has announced a competition, and a funding initiative focused on family businesses," said Minister Adrijana Mesarović. "This move follows a series of analyses confirming that many companies and entrepreneurs in Serbia employ more than one family member."

She explained that it is not uncommon for entire households to depend on a single economic entity. “That’s why it’s crucial to support businesses with long-term vision—those passed down from generation to generation,” the minister emphasized.

Under the new initiative, eligible business entities may receive up to 2 million RSD, with 50% of that amount provided as non-refundable state grants.

“There is a broad range of investment opportunities available under this support scheme,” she added, noting that 242 applications have already been submitted.

Minister Mesarović also announced that the official award ceremony would take place today at the Palace of Serbia and expressed enthusiasm about the program's reception.

In addition to the grant program, the Ministry is promoting a Development Fund credit line offering up to 5 million RSD in low-interest loans (2.5% interest rate per request).

"I invite all businesses with at least two family members employed to apply for this opportunity," the minister concluded.
