"Zahtevam promenu pravila za izbor mis sveta", objavila je Veronika Didušenko (24) pošto je pokrenula kampanju na društvenim mrežama #righttobeamother“ ("pravo na majčinstvo“).

"Razlog što mi nije dozvoljeno da učestvujem u izboru za 'mis sveta' posle pobede za 'mis Ukrajine' 2018. godine bio je taj što sam bila udata i imala dete", izjavila je Veronika Didušenko, majka petogodišnjeg dečaka.

My dear followers!❤️ ⠀ I’m so impressed, happy, proud and overwhelmed with our media coverage in the UK🇬🇧. ⠀ I can’t believe we could raise so much awareness to our campaign #righttobeamother which aims to change the discriminatory entry requirements of international beauty pageants to allow all women to participate. ⠀ I would like to see @Missworld and the other global running beauty pageants which seem to be stuck in the dark ages lift all entry restrictions so that these competitions are truly representative of all women in society today🌍. ⠀ Thousands of people have supported my campaign #righttobeamother across social media and I regularly receive thank you notes. Ona kaže da je, prema britanskom zakonu, "politika učešća na takmičenju za 'mis sveta' diskriminatorna po više osnova, uključujući bračni status, trudnoću i materinstvo".

Prema pravilima takmičenja za izbor mis sveta, učesnice ne smeju da budu udate i ne smeju da imaju decu. Veronika Didušenko je iz tih razloga već bila diskvalifikovana iz takmičenja za mis Ukrajine.

Today, #MissUkraine2019 will be selected. The girls must have spent a few sleepless nights… Being a part of such massive events requires physical and mental stamina, self-discipline, and stress-resistance. Qualities which take years to train💪. ⠀ One year ago I was one of them. Consumed by the preparations, I had no idea what big of an impact the next day will have on my life. ⠀ I had the honour to be crowned Miss Ukraine 2018. But a few days later I was carried by a whirlwind of the following events into a new reality🌪. The news on the disqualification of a single mom spread all over the globe. At some point I realised the story of Veronika Didusenko is a story of millions of women. It’s a story of sexism and misogyny, oppression and abuse which women had endured for millennia. ⠀ This was how I started my new quest, a quest for Truth, gradually becoming more aware of the inequalities and injustices which poison our lives day in and day out. On this journey, I have also found my new self who is less vulnerable, more confident and sees the world more clearly. "Ne želim da mi daju krunu pobednice. Želela bih da vidim da izbor za mis sveta i druga međunarodna takmičenja lepote, koja su izgleda zaglavila u srednjem veku, ukinu sva ograničenja kako bi postala istinski reprezentativna za sve žene", poručila je ona na Instagramu.

Organizatori takmičenja za mis sveta nisu još odgovorili na njene ocene. Finale takmičenja za izbor mis sveta održava se u Londonu 14. decembra.
