Dženel Veksler je frizerka iz Čikaga i majka dvoje dece. Kako kaže, ova ideja joj je pala na pamet kada je prvi put uočila sličnost u crtama lica između svoje ćerke Liberti Džejn i slavne meksičke umetnice Fride Kalo.

Nakon što je načinila prvu fotografiju na kojoj je devojčica obučena poput Fride, dobila je inspiraciju za još neke ženske likove.

"Fotografije su ispale sjajno pa sam poželela na ovaj način da odam počast i drugim važnim ženama. Te žene predstavljaju snagu, hrabrost, telesnu izdržljivost i intelekt – sve ono što bih poželela i svojoj deci", rekla je Veksler.

Malenu Liberti mama je tako, između ostalih, obukla u Mariju Kiri, Koko Šanel, Madonu i Ameliju Erhart. Međutim, ne radi se ovde samo o odeći već o čitavoj kompoziciji fotografije.

"Kada odlučim koji lik ću sledeći snimati, napravim malo istraživanje kako bih osobu prikazala na najbolji mogući način. Samo snimanje traje oko 20 minuta, a napravim sveukupno oko 50 fotografija nakon čega izaberem najbolju", kaže Veksler.
