Thanks to its location at the very center of the city, surrounded on all sides by state administration buildings, “Monument” always draws a crown no matter the time of day, so you might have trouble finding a table. The offer includes numerous Italian specialties, an abundance of salads, pastas and pizzas. We chose the pizza monument and received an original and tempting, light combination of salad on pizza dough. The thin and well baked crust was topped with several types of fresh lettuce and tomatoes, sprinkled generously with grinded hard cheese and covered with thin slices of prosciutto – effective, both visually and gastronomically. The risotto with chicken and pine nuts was a rather large portion of rice nicely blended with the other ingredients and mild in taste. At the waiter’s recommendation, we finished our meal with strawberry cheesecake, one of the better in the cities offer. Meal for two: 2,000 dinars. Located in place of the former Turkish hammam, this café-bar used to be a popular café with a pretty garden which has, over the years, grown into a real restaurant.
