WASHINGTON, BELGRADE Serbia’s Prime Minister Ivica Dacic conferred on Friday with U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) officials in Washington on Friday. The DEA officials “gave recognition” to Serbia at the meeting with Dacic, the Serbian Interior Ministry has released. Dacic and the top DEA officials agreed at the meeting to continue their cooperation and the Serbian prime minister pointed to the importance of the DEA’s help to Serbia in combat against drug trafficking. Leonhart stressed Dacic’s personal contribution to the improvement of the cooperation, noting that a decision to make Serbia a member of an international organization founded by the DEA was very important. After the meeting, the Serbian prime minister and interior minister pointed out that DEA’s assessment that Serbia was a regional leader in combat against drug trafficking was a great recognition for Serbia. “I am very touched with great respect DEA has shown to our country. And they say that this was a big day for them as well, because it was the first time that a prime minister has visited their agency,” Dacic stated. According to him, the cooperation between the Serbian agencies and DEA has resulted in a series of successful operations and seizure of more than five tons of cocaine and other narcotics worldwide, reads the Interior Ministry’s release. “We agreed to activate all possible lines of communication in order to finish ongoing operations,” the Serbian prime minister concluded.
