The parties that will make up the new Serbian government will probably be known by the end of the week, Socialist Party of Serbia's Zarko Obradovic says. “The election results give our coalition the right to expect more ministries and SPS leader Ivica Dacic as the prime minister,” he added. “Government to be known by week's end” "Why would only we be responsible for the fact a government has not been formed? Why don't the Democratic Party (DS) or the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), which won more votes, say where the holdup is," Obradovic tolf daily Vecernje novosti. When asked whether a government made up of the DS, the SPS, the United Regions of Serbia (URS) and the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) was still an option, Obradovic said this was "a question for the Democrats, who are still keeping quiet." Noting that a solution needs to be found that would guarantee the stability and success of the future government, he said the talks with the DS "have not stopped." "The DS is staying silent right now. The problem was a parliamentary majority that would support the government. A government that would include our coalition (SPS, the Party of United Pensioners of Serbia and United Serbia), the DS, and parts of the URS and U-Turn is not the answer to the current economic, social and political situation in Serbia," said Obradovic. According to him, the SPS is getting offers of major offices "only in the media." "We have not discussed departments with (DS leader Boris) Tadic, so we cannot give the edge to anyone in this regard. I expect our coalition will soon come out with its final position," he added. The SPS official said he did now know whether the SNS had really offered Dacic the prime minister's seat, adding that "in a sea of speculation, this could be a form of pressure on the SPS." Commenting on the speculation that the SPS turning to the SNS is a done deal, Obradovic said that "in today's Serbia, everyone talks to everyone else. Officially and unofficially."
