The SPS-led coalition and the United Regions (URS) "agreed on Sunday to advocate the same political positions in various segments of the state policy". The agreement was welcomed by the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), on which the Democratic Party (DS) counts as the fourth member of the future government. However, according to unofficial information, a parliamentary majority is still not in sight because of "excessive demands" of Mladjan Dinkic's URS party. Socialists strike deal with URS, still no majority Leaders of the coalition made up of the SPS, the Party of United Pensioners of Serbia (PUPS) and United Serbia (JS), and of URS agreed Sunday that talks on parliamentary majority with DS should continue, and SPS leader Ivica Dacic pointed out that so far there has not been any talks with the Serb Progressive Party (SNS), adding that his coalition will talk with the party only if there are no positive results in talks with the DS and smaller parties. The SPS leader said that his coalition would agree to a government which included both the URS and the LDP. URS leader Mladjan Dinkic said that Serbia needs a government with different foundations than the previous one and with a new organization, pointing out he sees the SPS-led coalition as a serious partner. Although the media expected that the consultations held at the SPS headquarters will produce results that would make it possible for DS leader Boris Tadic to request a mandate for setting up the government from the Serbia president, this did not happen because, as Tanjug learned, the URS demanded a much greater influence in the government than that achieved in the electorate. According to unofficial information, the Progressives (SNS) made the URS an offer which would guarantee the party a significant influence in a future government.
