German Ambassador Wolfram Maas has signed a EUR 120mn aid agreement with Finance Minister Diana Dragutinovic. This aid is destined for small and medium enterprises. Germany in EUR 120mn aid package to Serbia The German ambassador noted that Germany had donated EUR 870 mn to Serbia since 2000 and that it would keep doing so in order to help Serbia and its citizens. He added that Germany would be a reliable friend to Serbia on its path to the EU in future, underlining that important conditions on that path were regional cooperation and combating corruption. “We want to accomplish two goals: to show the German people’s solidarity and to show that EU integration is not a burden, but a boon for the citizens of Serbia,” Maas pointed out. Dragutinovic said that the aid package would be used to reconstruct water supply, drainage, sewage and remote heating systems in small and medium enterprises, and also, with the help of several counseling projects, support the development of the private sector at local level. ’’I would like to thank our German friends once again for this help, espesially because it comes at the time when all countries, including Germany, are dealing with the economic crisis,“ said the minister.
