Milo Djukanovic says that Montenegro should be eligible for NATO membership at the Alliance’s next summit. The Montenegrin prime minister said that by the time the next NATO summit came around, Podgorica would have fulfilled all the necessary conditions for receiving candidate status. Montenegro on course for NATO membership Djukanovic told a meeting of the Partnership for Peace Council that Montenegro’s accession to NATO was the country’s “strategic foreign-political and security priority.” He said that Montenegro had now entered “the most serious phase” of NATO integration, adding that it was “working dynamically on creating conditions for accession to the action plan for membership, which is a stepping stone to joining the alliance.” The Partnership for Peace Council called on all the Montenegrin government’s ministries to assist in speeding up the country’s Euro-Atlantic integration process.
